The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore stood they before the king. If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

The Scary Door

  • All the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid. 1 Samuel 17:24 WEB

When Goliath walked out onto the battlefield, all the men of Israel fled from before him. Not even King Saul would face this nine-foot tall giant. For forty days this taunting continued on until a young shepherd boy named David came to deliver some supplies, and heard Goliath insulting them.

David had been spending time alone with God in the fields while tending sheep. It was a boring job. He learned to played a harp quiet well and wrote psalms. He practiced with a sling, and when lions or bears came, he defended his flock from them. He came to know the Lord in a deeper way than others did.

When David heard Goliath speaking, the Holy Spirit urged him to go out there and face him, but David had to make that choice. Often Gods door of promotion is behind a scary circumstance in your life. If you are strong enough to open it, you get what is inside. David faced the giant and it was a turning point in his life. He began his journey to become the next king of Israel.

One day an insurance company called me and they had twelve computers networked together running DOS. One of them had lost connection and they wanted me to come look at it. A software company from out of state had came in and set up the network for them originally, but they were now unreachable.

This was in the 1990s and no one here had internet then, especially in the country. There was no way to research anything and no books to be had. I grew up on a farm and had never seen a network before, but they had got my number from someone else and called me out of desperation. I wanted to say, I cant help you with that but I felt the Holy Spirit urging me quietly with Go and I will go with you, so I heard myself say Sure, Ill be right there.

It was about a twenty-five minute drive and I prayed all the way there. Lord I cannot do this without You, please help me! then I am going to look like a fool. What am I doing! Then I quoted Moses, If Your presence does not go with me, dont send me up from here (Exodus 33:15). All the while, He was quiet.

Finally I arrived at their office and met the owner. He showed me the computer that was broken and we walked around the office and stopped at a filing cabinet to talk. I was already out of ideas, my heart was racing, and I was ready to tell him I cant help you when a flashing box caught my attention. As the man talked on, I rested my hand on top of the flashing box and another light came on. When I picked up my hand, the light went out.

After closer inspection I found that a wire had worked itself loose on the back of the hub. That was the entire problem. I fixed the network cable, the computer came back online, and they thought that I was a genius. They became a regular client for the next seventeen years.

That was a long time ago and today networks are everywhere. All of this is now common knowledge, but at that time I had never seen a network hub or network cable or even read about one in my life. Yet, I had the Holy Spirit with me and that is all that it took. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phil. 4:13).

The Lord blessed my computer business and it seemed that I could do no wrong. He carried me daily. Soon I had over fifty regular clients. The same type of story happened repeatedly in my life at accountants offices, lawyer offices, doctors offices and more. What seemed to be an impossible task was trivial.

The problems grew more and more complex and today I deal with load-balancing Linux mail servers on a daily basis, but through the Holy Spirit I have always managed to fix the problem. Still today, someone can call me over the phone with a computer problem and while they are talking with me, it will often fix itself.

God does not call the equipped. He equips the called and will provide all that they need. Like David, if you will step out when He calls you to do something, He will back you up and the giant will go down.

Prayer: Father I thank You for bringing me this far and am excited at what you are doing on the earth. Lord, make me a part of it! Use me Lord. Speak to me and through me. Put me where I need to be, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Leslie McLea
Leslie McLea Another Awesome Message, especally when I am getting ready to walk through another door of a place to live. Lots of unseen things when you move. But I know God is the one who placed us in this position, I have to trust HIM to work out the rest of details. When the events of the world are closing in, blood moons are more apparent, the stock market falls, the ice melting in Antartica casuing us to have such severe weather all can have an effect on you and can bring Fear and trembling to ones sould. But I try to remember that God took care of HIS people way back in Egypt, He has to power to take care of us now. Nothing is impossible, a scary door to us, is an oppertunity for GOD to work and to be seen in our lives. Thank you Pastor Dion for helping us through these times with expereinces of your own.

Mari Kaufmann
Mari Kaufmann Good morning everyone. I am guardian to my daughters children while she deals with a personal issue. I've been doing this for two years now. At times I want to just escape especially since my husband dieD recently. It gets overwhelming. Everyday I pray for strength. I pray God inputs cooperation into these four innocent children. I pray God helps my daughter to overcome her issue. God help us all. Amen.

Carol Policastro Good morning Mari.  Funny how life never seems to turn out as we have planned.  I had a thought enter my mind on the way to work today.....am I living or just existing???  I started thinking about this, and I know that the more I turn over to the Lord, the happier my ordinary life will be.  I get very overwhelmed at times and I can sympathize with your situation.  I just pray that God gives you the strength and patience to handle the little ones.  I pray this in Jesus' name for you Mari.

Deleted Member Mari, I know sometimes we all get that overwhelming feeling and it feels like we can't go on, but I pray over you right now that Jesus will give you a strength like no other, a peace where there is worry and fear, joy, where there is sorrow over worrying about your daughter and your grandchildren. Jesus has all power and I believe for good things to come to you for all you are doing for your daughter and her children. Jesus has a special blessing for people like you, that care and love so much. You and your family will be in my prayers daily. (I am so sorry about the passing of your husband, may comfort come to you heart and soul.) Jesus loves you and so do I. Love and prayers, Tamara)

Deleted Member Yes, Nell, isn't wonderful when you just have that special time with Jesus and its like just the two of you are talking like best friends and you are able to talk to Him like He is sitting right there with you, just like if your best friend was there and you could tell her everything, that's how Jesus is we can tell Him about everything and we don't have to worry about Him telling anyone else our heart's hurt, pain, sadness. He can lift us up when no one else can. God bless you Nell, you are a blessing and I look forward to hearing from you and seeing more of your pictures on here. Love,Tamara

Teresa Bridges
Teresa Bridges I love this! It goes to show how GOD is with you at all times!  I once worked for Kelly Services in Memphis and they sent me to work for the Heart Association.  My duties included knowing about Mail merging and Powerpoint, 2 things I had no clue about! By the time I left this job, I knew both.  But trusting in GOD to give me that knowledge, I learned these skills and took away with me from that job marketable skills.  He did not allow me to work there permanently, even though I wanted it because he had other plans for me. HIS will is the only way to go!

Twila Stierwalt I love that David was not afraid, in fact he was very bold. He told Galoth he God would help him and he would kill him and cut his head off. He remembered that God had helped him kill a bear and would help him again. It is Gods working through us. We have Gods resurrection power avalible to us, there is no other power more powerful than that.
