Psalm 41:1-2: As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God?
John 14:6: Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
I'm sure, and there is no doubt that we have all seen the first signs of spring recently. We are reminded of all the beauty of life in these times. When flowers start to bloom, days get longer, and birds we haven't seen in some time are back, we can see all the amazing life that has been created for us all to enjoy.
Winter can be long, and lifeless looking sometimes. We can see a lot of gray and brown, feeling all the coldness forcing us inside to almost hideaway. The same is true in our spiritual lives. We can get bogged down in a long cold season where the light of life seems like it is so far away, but we have to be reminded that Jesus is the Living God. He is the God of life, and light. He is the way, the truth, and the life. If we take that even deeper, we know that in our faith we can feel the oppression of the law. When we go through a season that our minds are on the past, or on our sins, it can seem that we are hopeless, and cannot get out of our own way. It is in these seasons that we must be reminded of Jesus. We cannot hideaway from these times, because it is within these times that we can discover how much our souls thirst for Him. You see, Jesus removed the death of winter, and the coldness of the stone of the law. The word says that the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life (2 Cor. 3:6). We are reminded that while Jesus was behind a tomb of cold dark stone, He re-emerged in life, leaving behind death, sin, and guilt. Through His sacrifice we have a perpetual springtime when we focus on Him and Him alone. Jesus is our eternal spring, and winter has no more hold on us. Just remember that when life looks cold, dark, and gray. Jesus is life, the Living God, who brings us brooks to quench our thirst.
Father, we pray that You would open our eyes not just to the springtime that we see with our natural eyes, but the perpetual springtime we have through Jesus. Remove the blocks and blinders we have masking the truth of Jesus as we thirst for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are in the middle of replacing the firewall, switching, and upgrading the Internet to Fiber. In the end, it will one-hundred times faster, from 20 to 2,000, but things are a bit hectic here at the moment. You may have received 20+ devotionals this morning. I did. Hopefully that will not happen tomorrow! We have been working on it since 3AM and are aware of the issues. Thank you for patience and understanding during the upgrade which will hopefully be over this week! God bless. 😀🙏
