If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

She wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn. Walk on Water from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. An extraordinary event unfolds in Matthew chapter 14, one that is unparalleled elsewhere in the Bible: a common fisherman defying the laws of nature by walking on water. This miraculous feat wasn't performed by Jesus, but rather by Peter, a ...

On The Job Training

  • I have said these things to you, while still living with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. John 14:25 WEB

When my hand touched the box, a new light illuminated on the front of it. When I moved my hand away, it went out. I inspected it more closely and found that the network cable was loose at the back of the hub. I re-crimped the cable and the computer came back online within minutes.

Thirty minutes before, I knew absolutely nothing about computer networks, but an insurance company had called me with a broken one. I worked on computers as a hobby and they had gotten my number from a friend. This was in the early nineties and even computers were rare here, much less a network of them, and I had never actually seen one.

I started to tell them no, but inside I could feel that this was an opportunity from the Lord, so I told them that I would come look at it. Fighting back panic, I was wondering what I was even doing, who was I to be even looking at this. I had never gone to school for computers and felt completely unqualified.

I prayed all the way there and then walked straight through the door to the network hub. I laid my hand on the problem and within ten minutes it was fixed and now they thought that I was a network guru. That office became my client for the next fifteen years. We still help them occasionally today.

The Holy Spirit will teach you all things. God is amazingly smart and ahead of the cutting edge. He can give you the answers to difficult problems and make you look like a genius. Never neglect prayer. It is not just for spiritual purposes. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him (James 1:5).

When the Lord opens the door, pray and step through it. He will equip you for the job and if you step out in faith, you cannot fail. David stepped out against Goliath when no one else would. We love to prepare and have it all planned out in advance, but the Holy Spirit will teach you all things and He specializes in on-the-job training.

Prayer: Father set up divine encounters for me today and give me the wisdom to accomplish them. I love to see You work in my life and I yield myself to You. Use me, in the name of Jesus.

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt I am so thankful that it is the Holy Spirit that teaches me all things. It is Gods work through me, and He is the one who gives me wisdom. I was just reading in 2 Timothy 1: 13 and 14, today that we are to guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure, which He has intrusted to me. (Our gifts, We should use them, because God has set us apart for holyness use. Hebrews 12 ;14, GO AFTER PEACE WITH ALL MEN, AND THE(SANCTICATION) being set apart, by God for holyness use,Without it no one will see the LORD.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield So true! Moses also doubted God; he didn't think he was the right person to lead the Israelites, but God heard Moses' pleas and sent AAron to help. God DOES listen! Lately, I wonder if this diagnosis of cancer is God's way of calling my family to believe. Who knows? Sometimes, I think God has to go to the extreme to get my attention---and perhaps give my kids a wake-up call. Have a blessed Sunday!

Albert Chau Too often when we rely on our own wisdom or even others and not the Lord, that is when we fail miserably at the end. I learn the hard way.

Tina G
Tina G Thank You heavenly Father for placing an encounter in my life yesterday and for helping me see it. As a result I get to go to my favorite place of worship today. I've only met my new friend, one time in person. We've communicated thru e-mail and phone for a couple months and "church" has never really come up until yesterday. She's picking me up this morning and that's right on time, too. I'm needing that spiritual lift I get when I praise and worship with other believers. I'm so excited!

Kate Bergin
Kate Bergin I just love this! God has also led me into many professional positions whereas if I were in the wildernes, without His grace, would have been above my education, experience or natural ability. Giving it to Him has become my 1st nature and being honest here-that's because of miracles, true ones-that I've seen happen, early in my faith and often in my life. One very important example is how God is right there ahead of me as I lift my head from prayer or tears. As a child educated in private religious school, I did not believe He existed, because I could not feel Him. Now I do.  Thanks, Pastor-for sharing your experiences with a bit of humor (about computers,) and striking message. God bless!

Tahonna Surrell
Tahonna Surrell Thank you for this Word it was definitely my confirmation that God is pushing me in the direction He wants me to be in. With that said, I was given news three weeks ago about being laid off my job of 5 1/2 year. Truth is I wouldn't have left my job if I wasn't thrown into it! I gave my two week notice of resignation and accepted a job offer. As I approach this new experience and accept this challenging career I look forward to the unknown because I know God is with me every step of the way! Thank you Pastor Todd for this reminder and encouraging Word!

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin Thank you Pastor, I was so overwhelmed in Church today, I didn't know what was the matter. I know I have a calling on my life, which I have been running from, like forever...........You know a little about my abuse because I have shared it here. I don't live in my story anymore and people want me to understand and have compassion. I do have compassion and understanding, yet I have the truth in Jesus that he will restore all things. I stand on that truth. I know about feelings, which to me is over-rated. I have so many scriptures that support not always listening to feelings. I should listen to the word of God, his promises. I thought I had a question, but I understand in me writing this what needs to be done......... Pray my knowledge and strength in the lord.

Diane Casey
Diane Casey I am so glad you all are back on line. I missed reading the word during my breakfast. And this word today is a word straight from heavens door for me. I have been retired for three years and was not interested or felt like working until one day I was looking at the news about these people missing their appointments because the transport services was short of help....all of a sudden I felt an overwhelming desire to help them, and I didn't even think about the finances, I just wanted to help. there is a three week trainning and I am in my third week. I have been asking God all the time, is this what you want me to do. besides driving, there is so much yo learn until it's overwhelming. The Holy Spirit spoke to me about asking for wisdom and understanding, not just spiritual, but also in our secular lives. when I read this devotional, it just confirmed that I am doing what God want me to do. Some of my church family is kind of skeptical, but I just can't explain what happened to me. I was overwhelmed with compassion to be a service. i know this is long, but I just wanted you to know that God is using you mightily to send a word of encouragement out into the airwaves for such a time as this. God Bless you all.
