God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went, filled the bottle with water, and gave the boy drink. Genesis 21:19 WEB
Hours went by while I struggled with a bug in the annoying computer program, until I finally gave up and walked out to get away from it for a bit. Why did this have to be so difficult, I thought. This should have been a simple task. All out of ideas, I sat down and prayed for a few minutes. Suddenly, I knew exactly what the problem was. In just a few minutes I had isolated the bug, fixed it and everything was fine.
My problem was not what I did not have, it was what I did not know. With Gods people, this is always the case. It is not what you do not have. It is what you dont know. No amount of tools or resources will fix what you dont know. But God can bring you the answer and once you have it, you will no longer have the problem. Hagar and her son were thirsting to death in the desert, when God opened her eyes to see a hidden spring of water near her.
The Lord said: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). James wrote: But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him (James 1:5).
God has came to my rescue so many times when I did not know what to do, when I just take the time to ask Him. Joshua and the Israelites became bound by a treaty with the enemy because they did not inquire of the Lord (Joshua 9:14).
When you are tempted to say, 'if only I had' get somewhere quiet, calm your mind and pray that God will reveal what you may be missing. You already have more than you think, but so often we cannot see it until the Lord reveals it.
Prayer: Father open my eyes to see the resources around me that You have already provided. I know in my heart that You are the answer for all wisdom, knowledge and resources are under Your control. Please share them with me today, in the name of Jesus.
