He caused me to pass by them all around: and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and behold, they were very dry. He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" I answered, "Lord Yahweh, you know." Again he said to me, "Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, 'You dry bones, hear Yahweh's word. The Lord Yahweh says to these bones: "Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you will live." Ezekiel 37:2'5 WEB.The Lord took Ezekiel to a valley filled with dry bones lying in the sun. It was the remains of a great army, now scattered about the ground and lying in the dust. All life was gone, and all that remained were the bones.
The valley was a bleak picture of hopelessness. God told Ezekiel to prophesy His words over the dry bones. Ezekiel had to feel like this was a hopeless situation, but when he obeyed and did what God told him, the dry bones came back to life.
Facts, faith, and feelings have to line up in that order. Facts are the word of God, which is living and always relevant. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word (Rhema) that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). His word is truth, His word is our anchor, His Word brought the universe into existence.
Our faith is demonstrated when our mouth and actions line up with the Word of God. Finally, our feelings must fall into their proper place. Which is at the end of the line and the least important of all. We can become hooked on feelings of doubt, unbelief, self-pity, and fear. They grow into mountains that we cannot see past. We have to let those feelings go in order to move on with God. Facts (Word of God) first, faith second, feelings last.
You cannot reverse this list and put your feelings first, then expect to live an overcoming life. If you feel like God doesn't love you. Then begin to act like it while ignoring what is written in His word, then you have reversed the list. You can't measure how much God loves you by your feelings, for they will lie to you. We have to stand on what has been written in His Word.
Keep your "feelings" in check, and don't speak them if they are negative, for your own words will be used against you by the enemy. You can prophesy your own future.
James 3:4 tells us: "Behold, the ships also, though they are so big and are driven by fierce winds, are yet guided by a very small rudder, wherever the pilot desires. So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest!"
Keep your speech positive. Instead of venting a feeling, quote Scripture that counters it. That's the way Jesus did in the wilderness. It is written, it is written.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please set a guard over my lips and make me aware of the things that I speak. Help me to keep my feelings in check and to trust You completely. Restore my hope. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: Ladies, today is Thankful Thursday at the "Ladies in Distress" group (our RHM women's group)!
