God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn't do it. But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry. Jonah 3:10'4:1 WEB.It was early morning during a hot summer in the South, and we were digging up a se...

Yahweh called Samuel again the third time. He arose and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; for you called me." Eli perceived that Yahweh had called the child. Therefore Eli said to Samuel, "Go, lie down. It shall be, if he calls you, that you shall say, 'Speak, Yahweh; for your servant hears.' " So S...

Such a Time as This

  • Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, Do not think to yourself that in the king’s palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Esther 4:12–14 ESV

John Wayne once said that courage is being scared to death… and saddling up anyway. Esther was faced with a decision that could have led to her execution. For her to go into the king’s chamber without being summoned was a death sentence unless the king pardoned her.

Her uncle Mordecai basically told her that if she did not go, that the Lord would send someone else, but that she would miss the boat. She was just a young girl and scared, but finally decided if I perish, I perish. After fasting and praying for three days and nights, she went on to meet the king and ended up saving her people.

It is easy to be strong when there is nothing to be afraid of, but faith is tested in the furnace like refined gold. Do not cower back from what you are facing today. You are here for a purpose. If God is for you, who can stand against you? If you withdraw, God will send someone else, but you will miss what He has in store for you. Stand strong, know that God is with you and that you are well able to face whatever comes your way.
