My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand. John 10:27'29 WEB.The hero of t...

Persistent Prayer

  • He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up, saying, "There was a judge in a certain city who didn't fear God, and didn't respect man. A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, 'Defend me from my adversary!' He wouldn't for a while, but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God, nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.' " Luke 18:1'5 WEB.

The widow in this story kept returning to the judge with her problem, though he had refused to help her several times. She returned to him again and again with her request until the judge gave her what she asked. She was persistent and really wanted it.

In Mark 7:27, there was a gentile woman who asked Jesus to help her daughter. At first, Jesus refused and said that it wasn't right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs. In other words, it wasn't yet time for the gentiles to experience the Kingdom of God, for He came to the Jews first.

Yet, she persisted and said that even the dogs get to eat the crumbs under the table. Jesus was so impressed with her determination and humility that He did what she asked, even though it wasn't the right time.

There are times when you have to be persistent. Pray until you get an answer. In 1 Kings 18:43, Elijah went back and prayed for rain seven times before the small cloud rose out of the sea. In Matthew 26:44, on the night of His betrayal, Jesus went back and prayed the same words three times. He tells us to pray always and not lose heart (Luke 18:1).

There is a spiritual battle going on, and you are in it, even if you choose not to be. Ignorance will not protect you from it. So keep on praying, keep on seeking, keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. Sometimes you have to pray it in.

Don't give up just because you prayed once and don't see it yet. Elijah would have never gotten his rain if he had stopped after the first prayer, though he was a mighty prophet who raised the dead. Elijah continued praying until he saw it come to pass.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You so much for all that You have done in my life. Please give me encouragement today, strength, wisdom, and lead me into all that You have for me here. Help me to recognize Your times and seasons. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Amen and Amen, Pastor!!! What a message on prayer!!! I'm beginning to understand now the meaning of "Pray without ceasing", that is what our Heavenly Father wants from us, His children, even though we don't deserve to be! I thank the Lord for you, dear Pastor and dear Sylvia!!! (h5) (L)

Prayer is powerful and Almighty God wants us to come to Him in prayer!  He longs to share his time and commune with us and He wants us to pray with every breath of our being not just once, twice, three times but ALWAYS because we know that He does hear us!  Thank you Father in Heaven for ALWAYS wanting me to pray and commune with you, in Jesus precious name I pray, Amen!!

I, too, sometimes feel the Lord must tire of my constant, repetitious prayers. But I continue as we are told to pray without ceasing. Amen!
