Yahweh said, 'I will destroy man whom I have created from the surface of the ground; man, along with animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.' But Noah found favor in Yahweh's eyes. This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God. Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Genesis 6:7 WEB
When the Earth had become totally corrupt and the thoughts of the people were only evil all the time, the Lord decided to start over. Only Noah was different from the rest. He was walking close to God, he was trying to do what was right, and therefore found favor in the eyes of the Lord.
Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives were spared and survived the coming flood. There were eight people saved through Noah's faith in God (1Peter 3:20, 2Peter 2:5). 'By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his house' (Hebrews 11:7).
Scripture does not mention that his wife was righteous, nor his sons or their wives. It only mentions Noah's relationship with God. When Lot was rescued from Sodom, his wife and daughters went out of the city with him.
Let us be like Joshua who said, 'And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD' (Joshua 24:15).
Serving God will affect those that you care about. Your acts alone may not save them, but you will be a light and God will draw them. When things get bad they will look to you for the answers. God can make you a lighthouse for those in need.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for saving my family. I pray that my entire family comes to know You personally. Touch them, draw them, get their attention, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
