John answered them, 'I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don't know. He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I'm not worthy to loosen.' These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. The next day, he saw Jesus...

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desir...

He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, 'Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.' Simon answered him, 'Master, we wor...

This Place Stinks

  • Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. Daniel 6:22 ESV

Daniel had spent a long night in a den of lions. The stench of rotted meat and lion poo had to be pretty pungent. He had done nothing wrong and was just trying to serve God as best as he could in a foreign land. When the sun came up the next day, the king set Daniel free and fed his enemies to the hungry lions. Daniel then prospered greatly.

Once I had a personal revival where I was zealously serving God. fasted and prayed daily for Him to remove anything holding me back from Him. Well that didnt take long and within weeks, my great paying job as a foreman was gone. After my unemployment ran out, I had to take the worst job that I ever had as a laborer in a brass polishing plant for one third of the pay. Every day I went home as black as smut.

I served faithfully there, though at first it required serious humbling on my part. I started out sweeping the floor. In time I was the manager. There was a mini-revival that broke out in the plant and several people got saved. Then, ever so gently, the Lord closed that down and placed me in my own business, using some of the skills that He had been teaching me along the way.

You will not always be in a place that stinks. If you humble yourself and serve faithfully where God has placed you, He will raise you up. You are not forgotten or unseen. In fact your attitude in the stinky place is being watched closely by a great cloud of witnesses. Keep the best attitude that you can and keep thanking God for He has not forgotten about you.

Prayer: Father, I know that you have not forgotten about me! I know that you see where I am. Please give me the grace to get through this day and work your perfect will in my life, in the name of Jesus.

Note: For any who missed the group message, the newest Bible Study is now up, covering Luke Chapter 13! We believe you will find the material to be interesting and helpful, and may even provide some prayer direction for the state of the nation. Also, the group event is now available for this week''s FAAD Live Chat! The chat will address how to overcome negative self esteem and will take place on Thursday, 7/9 at 7pm EST. We encourage all who may benefit from this important matter to attend! If you have any questions, please let us know!

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles It amazes me daily how on target your messages are with where my heart is! God is GOOD!! ... and his timing perfect! I remember praying through an especially rough and stinky patch in our lives (our daughters' recent illness). Each day I would thank God for what he had already done and ask my request for healing and to see the rainbows in the storm. I felt his presents all the way through that dark and stinky time, and each day  I was reminded, saw, or felt the blessings God gave us through the process, like sending my daughter to the places she needed to be to get the help she refused to get on her own and finally her choosing help, AND so much more... Praise God for all he does and you will be rewarded!! My daughter is well on her way to recovery and total healing. Amen Thanks once again for a powerful message Pastor Dion and thank you God for your humble servant, Pastor Dion. I am blessed to be  here.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Very interesting devotion, for it made me realize that all my favorite jobs have been smelly! First, in a kennel, then in a plastic factory (I'm sure inhaling those fumes all day did not benefit my asthmatic lungs!) Even working as a Jail nurse was smelly, because the county jail was situated on a riverbed! Actually, nursing itself can be quite a stinky profession--LOL!

Maggie Autobee
Maggie Autobee Over the years with this company I'm currently working for, many times I've had to swallow my pride and humble myself also. There's always something that God is showing me whether it was my attitude or just being complacent at where I was. I am learning and still learning how to welcome "change" whether it's at home, our world or at work. And to continue trusting our Lord God for He will not leave not abandon me for whatever may come in my path. Amen

Karen Pasquinelli
Karen Pasquinelli Before retirement my husband and I managed a storage facility.  After a few years there it got worse as all us managers had more work added on and no extra pay.  I was 68 and one day our Boss came into the office and told us about the new stuff we were going to have to do.  I had been praying about being able to retire, but of course it was up to my husband when we did (he had no idea I had been praying about retirement).  Well, low and behold that day was the day we gave our notice to retire.  My husband came up to my side of the desk and asked if I was ready to retire, of course I said yes.  He said do you want to give notice now I said yes.  :) That was 2 years ago and I can now say I am happily retired :)

Patricia Walker
Patricia Walker In reading today's message, I couldn't help but think of something my Dad taught me~ "It's hard to keep your shoes clean when you're walking in poop all the time"!! My Dad was a good teacher, teaching me and my siblings with these "one-liners" and leaving us to think of the meaning!!  Thank you Pastor Todd for reminding me of this and of God's teachings as well.  God Bless.
