For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won't prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won't delay. The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore stood they before the king. If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

My Sheep Hear Me

  • My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:27 WEB

Jesus said that His sheep would hear His voice and that they would follow Him. "And a stranger, they would not follow" (John 10:5). God speaks to His people individually and collectively. Often we are so concerned on being deceived that we ignore everything in order to play it safe. Jesus said that you would hear His voice and that is what will help protect you from being deceived, hearing His voice, that quickening in your spirit that something is not right.

There are three things Jesus mentioned here: 1) My sheep hear My voice. 2) I know them. 3) They follow Me. To those He will give eternal life, they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of His hand. This is all a part of the Christian life, hearing the Lord speak, having a relationship with Him, obeying Him as best you can.

We are often looking to hear an audible voice and ignoring the other hundred ways that the Lord is already speaking to us. Sometimes when you pray about something a scripture that you read you may reveal something new, you may see a picture in your mind that has meaning, hear the words to a song, suddenly remember the words that a friend once told you, get an email on the subject, see a dove outside your window, have a dream, maybe even hear an audible voice. I have experienced all of these in my own life at some point.

There is no set pattern, and the Lord speaks to each of us differently, but He does speak. Its personal, and I have had the Lord speak to me in terms that only a computer technician would understand. Use common sense. If you read Judas went and hanged himself and then hear Go and do likewise, DON'T. Youre smarter than that.

When you pray, take a moment to listen. Flip open a Bible and read the page that it falls on, you may be surprised what you find. Refine your relationship with the Lord and remember that His sheep hear His voice. Practice hearing the Lords voice now. It is never too late to start and never too early to begin. In the days that are coming, you will be thankful that you did.

Prayer: Father speak to me in a way that I understand. Help me hear Your voice and guide me today. I invite You to actively participate in my life and look forward to hearing from You, in the name of Jesus I pray.

Lisa Aldridge-Mathson
Lisa Aldridge-Mathson The above method is my lifeline. I make no decision without prayer and scripture first. Before I accepted Jesus I thought I had all the answers. After I accepted Him I realized just how much I DON'T know. Allowing God to lead me to my decisions sure takes a lot of stress out of my life. Even when the answers don't make sense to me...I know it will work out right.

Beverly Boyd
Beverly Boyd Lord, I pray for RHM, Pastor Dion, Sylvia and all our members.  May we feel your strong presence in our lives and hear your voice as you guide us through this day, as you love us beyond measure.  May our prayers line up with your prayers as we grow to know you better with each passing day.  May we open our hearts, minds and soul to your tender voice and know that it is you, Lord, guiding and directing our steps.  Amen.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield God started "speaking" to me when I began saying "Praise and Thank You God" for little things--even getting across the street safely or managing to properly thread my temperamental sewing machine!(Only with God's help can I manage those FOUR spools of thread and tricky threading pattern-LOL) A Christian friend then told me "There is no such thing as a coincidence." Once her words sunk in, and along with my continual acknowledgement of God at work in my daily life, it became obvious that a Higher Power was and is with me.Without a doubt, if God had not been with me recently, I would have never survived the verbal assault from my own father last Sunday. Blessings to All, Kathy

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin This tells me if I hear his voice, I will listen, because I belong to him. I wouldn't need to worry about once saved always saved discussion. I would be following his lead,  my sheep will hear( listen) to my voice. Verse 30 says I and the father are one. So the power is within us to conquer all things, we have to embrace that power. Be encouraged.

Patty Martin
Patty Martin Pastor Todd, thank you for today's message, which I believe to be another way that our Father is speaking to me. Father God has been speaking to me and much more recently, through the Holy Spirit.  He is asking me to respond to nonbelievers and Christian criticizers, many who I've know for years, in a way that honors Him.  My initial reaction is to be offended, and I want to strike back and defend my God, but then I pause, pray to Him for just the right words to say, and pray that my response would make others question themselves.  Had I not been an active participant in a Bible-based church, involved in Bible studies, reading scripture and praying, and surrounded by other believers, I would not know how to respond to the many nonbelievers in the world today.  I would remain silent like I used to because I thought I didn't have the right words or any knowledge in which to respond.  God has equiped me to be His warrior.  I will speak boldly, yet gently, to those who ridicule my Christianity.  Through the Holy Spirit, God continues to provide me with knowledge in a way that defends Him, yet doesn't begin a battle.  I am here on this earth to bring others to Christ and I pray for their salvation every day.

Kay Rushin I think he puts people in our path, Patty for just that reason, you can tell them, just remember " God does the saving" not us....I have to keep reminding myself, I tend to get frustrated when people don't get it....so I pray for patience, He was patient with me....be encouraged..

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt This happened to me yesterday, We went to do some shopping. On the corner of the street was a family 3 children and a husband and his wife, they had a sign that said they were traveling and needed help. In our town you never see people standing on the corner. We went by the lady waved at us and smiled. I asked my husband if we could get them some food, I felt in Gods Spirit to buy them some food. We did our shopping, and I can't explain how I felt picking out just the right food, but it was come compelling that I get things that did not need refrigeration. I felt God leading me down the illes thinking about the children. I got juice in the little cartons, granola bars, and Peanut crackers. I told my husband that if they were still there when we got back, I knew God had been speaking to me. It didn't matter why they were there, and that we knew nothing about their citation. We went back and they were still there. I handed the women the food and she kept saying thank you. the children all looked in the bag and smiled. I told the lady God bless you. It was such a God thing. Then I read this devotion today and know that God puts people in our path, giving us a chance to obey Him. The verse in my personal devotion to day was, 1 Kings18:21, How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If Yahweh is God, follow Him. But if baal follow him. The requirement of faith before we see certain acts of God is one way he forces our engagement with Him in an active relationship.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady I  was forcefully compelled by the Holy Spirit to pray for my Jewish neighbor as he was dying and in Hospice. It was so strong the compassion tormented my soul that he would die unsaved. I prayed all that day and every time I woke up that night. The next day as his wife told me that he had passed away early in the morning , long before sunrise, I felt a peace beyond understanding.  I  just knew in my heart that he found Jesus. I didn't tell his wife , I simply offered my condolences. I  had told her many times in the past that I was praying for them.

Cheryl Hepler Pastor Dion I love the paragraph you wrote on all the different ways we hear Jesus's small still voice.  Ate every word.  I know these ways you describe over my years even before I gave heart to Him.  I is amazing and awesome how the word "individual" fits sooo wonderfully.  He only knowing us on that basis knows what will capture my attention!  I love it.  In some very sorrowful times too.  He is Lord who knows all things:)
