The Vineyard from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. I have always admired Amos, who was a shepherd in a field when the Lord told him to go and prophesy to King Jeroboam in Bethel. The priest Amaziah told him to prophesy somewhere else. They weren't interested in what the Lord had to say, but A...
  • for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity. Proverbs 24:16 WEB.Once again, I was the one who promised he would never do it again, then went and did it again. I had slowly drifted away one more time. I have found that it's easy to make promises...

Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

Recover All

  • When David and his men came to the city, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters were taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voice and wept until they had no more power to weep. David's two wives were taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the souls of all the people were grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters; but David strengthened himself in Yahweh his God. 1 Samuel 30:3-6 WEB.

When David and his men returned home, they found their village had been burned to the ground. Their families and belongings had been taken away by Amalekite raiders. The men with David were so upset they considered stoning him. Yet, when everyone turned against him, David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. David regained his strength by focusing on the Lord for a while. Within seventy-two hours, David recovered all.

There are times when God allows us to go through things instead of around them. I don't claim to know why, but when we come out of the other side, we are better, stronger people, and we have a testimony to go with it. My Dad grew up during the Great Depression, and there is hardly a generation that turned out better. Hard times make strong people that don't begin to whine when the slightest thing goes wrong.

When times get hard, stay close to God, and it will work out for the best. Later, you will look back and see that you are still here no matter what you have been through, for our God can turn the bad into good. If you act like David, stick to God, think positive, believe His word, you will recover all you've lost, and then some.

Today, if you feel down, defeated, and it seems that the world has turned against you, there is still hope. For God is more than enough. The Lord can sustain you, and when He is for you, who can stand against you? As He becomes bigger in your life, your problems will become smaller. Rekindle that flame within you by recalling what God has already done in your life. He is still the God that created the universe. Build yourself up in the Lord, and you will come through this just as David.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please draw my heart to You like never before. Put a new fire within me, and fill me with Your zeal. Fire me up, God! Help me shake off the things that hold me back, focus on You, and become steadfast. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: For those following the Creation Photography weekly challenges, here is this week's theme from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~ "Focus on Beauty, Focus on Hope" will be our next fun loving theme. This theme will be for two weeks, as I will be taking some self-care time again, and as always our themes are wide open for creative interpretation! We also encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. My photos this week reflect how I try to stay in hope: I focus on nature's beauty. I remember Jeremiah 29:11 and moments like this when God shows his almighty-ness and healing grace in big calming, relieving ways for me. It makes those fears seem foolish don't they? Anyway, have a glorious couple of weeks and I'll see you in October ~ God Bless! Here is the link: Creation Photographers
