I have said these things to you while still living with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don'...

Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them because they were harassed and scattered, li...

Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had plotted against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast "Pur", that is the lot, to consume them and to destroy them; but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked plan, which he had plan...

A Giant Problem

  • The Philistine said to David, "Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky and to the animals of the field." Then David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin; but I come to you in the name of Yahweh of Armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Today, Yahweh will deliver you into my hand. I will strike you and take your head from off you." 1 Samuel 17:44'46 WEB.

Young David walked out onto the battlefield alone while the army of Israel cowered in fear far behind him. Not one of them would face this giant of a man called Goliath, though he came out and taunted the Israelite army twice a day for forty days (verse 16). No one except a seventeen-year-old boy named David. He had been spending time alone with God in the field, tending sheep. When David heard Goliath's words, he said, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?" (verse 26). Then David went out to challenge Goliath.

King Saul was head and shoulders taller than any of the people (1 Samuel 10:23), and he was the anointed king of Israel. Saul would have been the expected choice to battle Goliath. And King Saul would have probably won. Yet, he was scared and didn't go. So instead, we read about David. It had to be a seriously one-sided-looking fight. A 17-year-old boy with a sling, walking out to fight a 9-foot tall giant of a man whose bronze coat of armor alone weighed 126 pounds.

When David stepped out to meet him, Goliath began to hurl insults and curses at him. David declared, even prophesied, that God would deliver Goliath into his hand, and today he would cut off his head. Then David proceeded to do just what he said he would. David demonstrated faith in action. Later wrote: "I have put my trust in God. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" (Psalms 56:11).

When the Lord gives you an opportunity, step out in faith. Say, "The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:6). Don't look at your own abilities, for He will give you more as they are needed. This is the path of promotion, and you can do this. God is the One who has your back, but fear guards the door you have to go through. You only have to put one foot in front of the other one, take it one day at a time, and keep a positive attitude about it. Stay the course, and keep the fire burning. Learn to trust God and never give up.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for all that You have done for me. Please help me stand as a strong pillar for You. Teach me, tweak me, deliver me, lead me away from temptation, and help me to overcome the obstacles in my path. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: For those following the Creation Photography weekly challenges, here is this week's theme from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~ "Focus on Beauty, Focus on Hope" will be our next fun loving theme. This theme will be for two weeks, as I will be taking some self-care time again, and as always our themes are wide open for creative interpretation! We also encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. My photos this week reflect how I try to stay in hope: I focus on nature's beauty. I remember Jeremiah 29:11 and moments like this when God shows his almighty-ness and healing grace in big calming, relieving ways for me. It makes those fears seem foolish don't they? Anyway, have a glorious couple of weeks and I'll see you in October ~ God Bless! Here is the link: Creation Photographers
