God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went, filled the bottle with water, and gave the boy drink. Genesis 21:19 WEB.The hours passed by while I struggled with a bug in a computer program I had written. I finally gave up and walked out of the room to get away from it for a bit. Why did this have to be so annoyingly difficult today, I thought. It should have been a ten-minute job, but I have spent all day on it. Exhausted and out of ideas, I sat down and prayed about it for a few minutes. Then suddenly, I knew just what the problem was. I went back in, and within a few minutes, I had isolated the bug, fixed it, and the program worked fine.
My problem wasn't something I didn't have, but what I didn't know. See, with God's people, this is always the case. It's never what you don't have. It's what you don't know. No amount of tools or resources will fix what you don't know. What makes it even more difficult is that "we don't even know, what we don't know" until it is revealed to us.
The Lord can reveal the answer to you. Then once you have it, you will no longer have the problem. In the scripture above, Hagar, and her son, were thirsting to death in the desert. Then God opened her eyes to see a hidden spring of water near her, and they were fine. Problem solved.
The Lord said: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). James wrote: "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5).
Don't limit the wisdom and knowledge of the Creator of the universe to the Bible. The Holy Spirit knows more about technology, medicine, physics, history, and so much more than mankind ever will. He can give you wisdom in all areas of life if you take the time to ask Him.
There have been so many times when I didn't know what to do, then God would come to my rescue when I took the time to ask Him. Joshua and the Israelites became bound by a treaty with the enemy because they did not inquire of the Lord first (Joshua 9:14). Don't be like them.
When you are tempted to say, 'if only I had'.' Get somewhere quiet, calm your mind, and pray that God will reveal what you may be missing. You already have more than you think, but we often cannot see it until the Lord reveals it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to see the resources around me You have already provided. I know in my heart that You are the answer. All wisdom, knowledge, and resources are under Your control. Please share them with me today. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: For those following the Creation Photography weekly challenges, here is this week's theme from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.' ~ Our next fun-tastic theme will be 'All God's Creatures' and is wide open for creative interpretation! We also encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. My photos today reflect a few of God's creatures we've had the honor of catching on camera this last week. Can't wait to see your posts! Have a blessed week everyone! Here is the link:
