Jesus therefore answered them, "Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise. Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring forth my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt. Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I...

He told them this parable. • Now Yahweh's word came to me, saying, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." Then I said, "Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, I don't know how to speak; for I am a child." Jeremiah 1:4-6 WEB.

Jeremiah tried to explain to the Lord why he wasn't the one for this new prophet job, but He wouldn't take no for an answer. For though Jeremiah felt inadequate, the Lord had appointed him as a prophet before he was even born. It was Jeremiah's destiny. So before Jeremiah had done anything good or bad, the Lord had made plans for his life and equipped him for it.

God didn't choose Jeremiah because he was wealthy or because of his charisma or popularity. The Lord said that He formed Jeremiah in the womb. So He could have made Jeremiah into anything He wanted him to be, and that's what He did. Jeremiah came with the toolkit and the gifts that were needed to fulfill his purpose here.

Likewise, so do you. God made you the way that He wanted you to be. You have a combination of skills, gifts, and talents that others don't. You shall not covet anything that is your neighbors (Deuteronomy 5:21). In a way, rejecting the original you that God created and yearning to have your neighbor's life instead is "an original sin." God didn't create us to be carbon copies of one another. For we are each unique and special to Him, just as He made us.

You are who God wanted you to be. Our choices and actions can be good or bad, but we are each God-crafted. So stop being so critical. Don't look down on yourself because you don't have this or that. Stop trying to be like someone else and become the very best version of yourself, the one who God created you to be. That is when your life will find its true meaning and purpose.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for creating me. Please unlock the skills and gifts that You have placed in my life and teach me to utilize them to their fullest extent. Help me become the best version of myself. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." (Prov. 3:5-6) ~ If you are in need of prayer, we and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Marilyn Salter I have always held to the belief that God made me who I am and I never apologize for it. With that said, I pray with all my heart that I am being the best version of what He created me to be. Thank you Lord for all your blessings and mercies.

So true, Pastor Dion! Comparing ourselves to others is so destructive. God created us purposefully; each one unique! Lord, help me become the best version of myself. In Jesus' name, Amen
