Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many. Now the centurion and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were done, were terrified, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!" Matthew 27:50-54 WEB.Direct access to God was very limited before Jesus Christ went to the cross. A thick curtain in the temple separated the common people from the Holy of Holies, where God's presence dwelt. Only the high priest was allowed to visit this inner room, once a year, on the day of atonement.
Just before Jesus took His last breath on the cross, He said, "It is finished." Then the curtain which had separated the people from God was torn in two from top to bottom. It opened the way for us to come directly into His presence. His door is now wide open, and we are welcome.
Let's therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 WEB.
Our heavenly Father has provided a way for us to come to Him boldly. We can tell Him anything that is on our hearts, knowing that He only has our best interests in mind. The Lord will not be surprised or shocked at anything you say to Him. He won't get angry or embarrassed. In fact, there is nothing you can tell Him that He doesn't already know. Yet, talking with Him will set you free and take a burden off of your own shoulders.
Come boldly to the Lord in prayer and talk to Him as you would your best friend. Pray about everything. We often don't have because we don't ask Him. Develop that close relationship. Pay the price. It's worth it. Dig deeper. There are good things hidden there. Involve God in your everyday life and include Him in your decisions with, "Not my will, but Yours, be done." He has opened His door. We should use it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for opening Your door and welcoming us. I come to meet You today. Please work Your will in my life. Lead me, and I will follow You. Speak to me in a way that I understand, and let me see the world through Your eyes. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: Ladies, today is Thankful Thursday at the "Ladies in Distress" group (our RHM women's group)!
