As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them. Luke 6:31 WEB.We had to park way out in the parking lot that day, and it was hot when we came out of the grocery store. There were no cart returns nearby, and I didn't really feel like taking the buggy all the way back to the building. I ...

You Get What You Need from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Sometimes disappointment comes from unrealistic expectations, like a fish that wants to fly. Fish simply aren't built for graceful air travel, but they can swim like no one else. Likewise, the Lord has given each of us a gift set and...

Passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men." Immediately they left their nets, and followed him. Mark 1:16-18 WEB.When I was youn...

An Infinite Loop

  • Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient. Matthew 6:31-34 WEB.

Once I was working on a software program to help automate some things for us. There was a bug where each time I tested the application on the computer, the processor usage would climb to one-hundred percent, and the computer would slow to a crawl. I am sure that you have seen the hourglass or the spinning beach ball before. Eventually, the computer would become unresponsive.

The computer system would become comatose. It was just too busy thinking to respond to any more input. All the system resources were being used up, yet, it was accomplishing absolutely nothing. In the code, I had forgotten to include a proper break out for a particular condition. So the computer application would reach that line and get stuck in what is called "an infinite loop." It was repeating the same thing over and over again to itself, endlessly, and it would never move on. Eventually, all the remaining system resources would be used up, and you would get "Not Responding."

Worrying about tomorrow is a lot like this. You try and solve tomorrow's problems in your mind. When you fail, you try again, then again, and again. Soon, it becomes an infinite loop, and you lie in bed staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep. A loop like this will drain all of your energy until you are completely exhausted and no longer responding to input from others. The noise level in your head will grow louder, and it will keep you from hearing God's still small voice. You become so tired, and yet, you have solved absolutely nothing.

Stop. Break out, and through that wall of doubt and fear. Living in the past causes depression. Living in the future causes anxiety. God will help you through tomorrow when it comes. When the problem arrives, the answer will also appear with it. Today is the tomorrow that you were worried about yesterday. He has brought you this far, so don't get caught in an infinite loop of worrying about tomorrow and miss living today. Trust God, and tomorrow will take care of itself, just as it did yesterday.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that You bring the breakthrough in my life. Help me break out of this loop and to reach a new level. Please fill me up with Your Holy Spirit, cover me with Your peace, and let me be a carrier of Your love on the earth. I choose to trust You to take care of tomorrow. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: For those participating in the Creation Photography weekly themes, here is this week's challenge from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Psalm 126:2 Proverbs 31:25-28 "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." ~ 'Mother Moments' will be our next fun theme. Show us ALL the mom moments you cherish'you as a mom, your mom, the grand moms, anyone filling a mom's shoes or helping a mom through'funny moments, happy moments, sad ones too. Embrace, appreciate, and safeguard each memory you hold dear and share with us the ones you will Oh yeah, as always, our themes are wide open for creative interpretation! We also encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. Loops of the past often admittingly replay in my mind bc it was severe abuse which is hard to overcome. It sometimes hinders me, honestly, from enjoying the present bc I'm very very sheltered w my heart. Please pray that I trust God and put all of my focus on him to end the loops as described above. This devotional really spoke to me. Praise God for his PERFECT timing

This is a great devotional. I sometimes have dreams where I can't complete something! The more I try the worse it gets! When I wake up I'm frustrated! These dreams are perfect examples of endless loops. This a perfect devotional for me! Thanks and God bless you!
