When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you. And Elisha said, Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me. 2 Kings 2:9 ESV
Walking together down the road, Elisha was just a servant. The mighty prophet Elijah was renowned for calling fire down from heaven multiple times. He caused a draught on the land, and then caused it to rain. He resurrected people from the dead, fed people for years from a small jar, and much more. He was a force to be reckoned with.
Elisha could only dream of being used by God like that. Still, he asked for a double portion anointing, and the Lord gave it to him. Elijah did fourteen miracles, Elisha did twenty-eight. Exactly twice as many.
Do not be afraid to dream big. God can easily surpass your wildest dreams and go beyond your imagination, if you will go with Him. Of course, keep God centered and be a good servant / steward along the way, just as Elisha did. Dare to follow your dream. It just may be that the Lord placed that within you for such a time as this.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me a fresh vision and renew the dream that you gave me. I want all that You have for me Lord, in the name of Jesus.
Note: Happy Father''s Day! We pray that you all have a very blessed day as we honor the fathers in our lives and reflect on the love that our heavenly Father showed us through the sacrifice of His Son!
