I have said these things to you, while still living with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. John 14:24 WEB
As I look at my piano, there are twelve notes repeated across its keyboard. Only seven ivory keys and five ebony, yet a talented pianist can make endless music out of these twelve notes. They can play love songs, sad songs, happy songs, classical and so much more. Every day they may compose something fresh using those same twelve notes.
The Bible has a set amount of words, but the Holy Spirit brings something fresh out of it every day. Each time that you read it, you may learn something new. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals this. Peter and John were uneducated men, yet the teachers of the day were astonished at them (Acts 4:13). It was because the Holy Spirit taught them. When Peter preached his first sermon under the power of the Spirit, about three thousand people were saved (Acts 2:41).
When you read your Bible, first pray and ask God to help you understand His word. The Lord Jesus said that the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send, will teach you all things. There is no way around that. Just as a pianist can compose a new song, the Holy Spirit can bring new light to an old scripture. With His help, the Bible is an endless volume of relevant knowledge, a living book, that is always fresh and amazing.
Prayer: Father, please teach me Your word. Help me understand and remember it. Clear my mind of bad things and bring Your scriptures to remembrance when I need them, in Jesus name I pray.
