Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?" Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you have mocked me, I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would have killed you." The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not yo...

Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." Justice

  • Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful. Don't judge, and you won't be judged. Don't condemn, and you won't be condemned. Set free, and you will be set free. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:36-38 WEB.

I once heard an elder at our church, who was about 75 years old then, say, "Everything that I said I would never do, I have now done." He explained that each time he had looked down on someone else's mistake and said that he would never do that, he later found himself in the same situation. And when he was walking in their shoes, things felt a lot different.

This is something that I wish I had known when I was much younger. When we judge others or look down on their circumstances, we open the door for the same thing to happen to our family and us. Perhaps when young and youthful, we look down at someone overweight, then years later, their weight is on us.

Jesus told us, "As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them" (Luke 6:31). On the surface, it means, "Treat people like you would like to be treated," but it goes far deeper than that. The way that you treat others now is how you will be treated in the future. How is that for poetic justice?

We will reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). That is the pattern Jesus gave us: Don't judge, and you will not be judged. Don't condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you.

God's laws are like the law of gravity. They work invisibly, silently, and affect everyone. All those commandments are still valid when reversed: Judge others, and you will be judged. Condemn others, and you will be condemned. Refuse to forgive others, and you will remain unforgiven. Don't give to others, and it will not be given to you.

If you know of an area of your life where you have criticized or judged someone else, then do yourself a favor and repent of it now before you get to walk a mile in their shoes.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please forgive me for being critical of others or of passing judgment on them. I realize that is Your job. Help me see the world through Your eyes. Help me break this cycle and become the best version of myself. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: For those participating in the Creation Photography weekly themes, here is this week's challenge from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Psalm 19:1-2 "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge." ~ Our theme this week will be 'Looking to the Heavens' and is open wide for creative interpretation! We encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. When I look to the heavens, I see beauty, grace, soaring freedom, and birds in flight! My photos this week reflect just a tiny bit of the beauty I see looking up. Have a peaceful and blessed week, and when the world tries to drag us down, look up and remember who is really in control. God bless! Here is the link: Creation Photographers

Marilyn Salter I always to no pass judgment on other people. I always remember that I have not walked in their shoes. I have no idea what caused them to be the way they are. I can only treat them with kindness and be their friend.

Lord forgive me if I have ever judged anyone for I know that until you walk a mile in the shoes of others, we have no idea what circumstance or situation has brought them there.  What I have learned and continue to keep my mind open is that we need to be more compassionate, kind and truly understanding no matter the circumstance just as you ALWAYS forgive and love us NO MATTER the circumstance.  In Jesus most precious name I pray, Amen!!

Amen!

Years ago, I got so angry at a friend of mine who was always late.  The last straw was when I was sitting in a restaurant for 20 minutes waiting for her.  When she finally arrived, I let her know that I was tired of waiting, and no longer was interested in having lunch with her.  We went our separate ways, and that was the end of the friendship.

Now, it seems that I am always late.  I tried to find this friend for the past few years to apologize, but I can not find her.  I am so sorry for being so critical and losing a friend over this.

Father God, forgive me for being critical and judgemental.  I am so sorry for what I did.  Help me to change my ways so that I will not be late for appointments anymore.  In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
