The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore stood they before the king. In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchante...

If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

  • Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and saw that they were sad. He asked Pharaohs officers who were with him in custody in his masters house, saying, Why do you look so sad today? They said to him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. Joseph said to them, Dont interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me. The chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph Genesis 40:6 WEB

Joseph had now been in prison for two years. He had been wrongfully accused and should not have been there at all. He was an innocent man. Still, the Lord was with him and his gifts of administration were welcomed here. He also got the chance to interpret dreams for those around him. Eventually, Joseph was set free from prison and made second-in-command of the most powerful nation in the world.

Joseph was set free because he used his gifts right where he was, even in prison. Joseph became known for his gifts of interpreting dreams and administration. Later, when Pharaoh had a dream, Joseph was summoned to interpret it. Because of his gifting and his excellent spirit, he was promoted. If Joseph had been bitter because of his circumstances and not used his gifts, Pharaoh would have never learned about him and he may have remained in prison.

I once had a great paying job with good benefits (by South Carolina standards anyway) as a supervisor over a crew of men. The boss loved me, but I did have to work every weekend and could not attend church. After fasting and praying a couple of weeks, they suddenly laid me off. I was a bit shocked at first as I did not see it coming, but I just knew in my heart that God had something better. I felt that I should be working in a Christian bookstore anyway, or a Christian environment, listening to the Bible or gentle praise all day, and talking about God. I assumed that He was working on making that happen.

Wrong. After being out work until the bills began to pile up around me, a door opened and I had to take a job in the worst, darkest, hole-in-the-wall place that I ever worked in my life. It was horrible in every way. It paid a fraction of what I had been making and had zero benefits. I operated a buffing machine and polished brass plumbing parts by hand. Each day I came home black and green from the brass dust. It was dangerous. There were giant roaring belt sanders with no guards that would cut you in half if you walked into it. Sometimes, the machine would snatch the part away from you, then fire it back at you, knocking you down. Almost everyone did drugs openly, cursed like sailors, and death metal roared from giant speakers.

I prayed to get out, but I could feel in my spirit that this is where I was supposed to be. The Lord showed me that I had become prideful in my supervisor job, now He was correcting that and asked if I would submit. I did and humbled myself by becoming the best employee they ever had. I swept the floor, picked up trash, and kept my work area immaculate. Where some polished a few hundred parts, I was soon polishing 7,000 a day.

I prayed silently most of the day, listened to the Bible and fasted as much as I ate. Though I was pretty fit and muscular at the start, I lost thirty pounds from the combined heat and fasting. After a while, things began to change around me. All the people that stayed there became saved, started the day by praying in circles together, and attended church together. I became the manager and the Bible played over the intercom all day. It was now a Christian environment. When I went to church, I would fill my whole row with guests. The pastor loved me. Soon after this, the plant merged with another and the Lord launched me into my own computer business for the next seventeen years. My promotion had taken a detour.

Sometimes the way of promotion is not lined with roses. Serve God where you are, right now. Believe me, it may not be a pretty place but it is preparing you for what is coming. Do it wholeheartedly. Hold nothing back. The Lord knows exactly what you need, and if you will submit, He will provide it.

Prayer (not for the faint of heart): Lord I submit to Your will for my life. Forgive me for thinking that I know what is best and remove the things that hold me back. Use me where I am. Speak to me where I am. I know that You are in full control, that You love me, and I ask that you increase Your presence in my life, whatever the cost, in Jesus name.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles 2 years ago I was complaining about my job... it was hard and discouraging.I am a preschool teacher and I had these two siblings... out of control. Always. Every single day. In every way they would try to make life hard for anybody around them. The teachers all wondered if they were bipolar or something. I tried every thing (I thought) to calm them down and show them Gods love.I finally started doing QiGong with them after much prayer and meditation on the matter. This actually helped calm them some... less outbursts and violence. Eventually they moved away. Fast forward a year. My daughter had a break down, she was completely out of her mind. The  first crisis center called it work stress related>>psychosis (much more than work were stressor factors)  2 more visits to crisis centers, 2-3 months into this battle and 2 more different diagnosis later... they wanted to label her schizoaffective with bipolar tendencies. At this point I realize that God has just prepared me for this with those siblings. I am not gonna lie, this is the hardest thing I have ever delt with with my children, but God was GOOD and knew I would need the experience from thoses beautiful young children who needed help. I fely blessed to realize that. My daughter did get better. it took about 6 months and the death of her aunt (1 of the other stresses) but she finally asked for help, stoped fighting treatment and got better. Today it's one day at a time but she is moving forward and in her right mind again. Thank You Lord for always preparing us for the battles that lie ahead. Yor Grace and Mercy are never ending. Thank you Pastor for this message & for your powerful prayer <3 Stay blessed.

June Sorensen
June Sorensen Thank you for your words & lesson. I feel as if I have been in the valley for years and I have. I finally realized in 2013 to run to God not away from him. I am still in the valley, I cry every day; but now I cry out for him to teach me, mold me & make me His in all ways. Sometimes I wonder why I cannot let go of my pain all the way? I know now it is satan's way of keeping me in my valley. With God in my life everyday, I feel stronger in the Spirit, and your prayer just gives me more ammunition to throw at that demon of pain & rejection.  Bless you all! J

Madalyn Myers
Madalyn Myers Yes this is true. I have been praying for my area that I live in. People are more negative. I could catch a few smiles then all hell breaks loose. Some days I wish for a plane to take me away or a paid bus ride to complete calmness, stillness, and divine peace. A Christian Bookstore is a beautiful Devotional reading because. Sometimes people should pray and ask for guidance. I have grown past my area. I feel that the youth my age and under are in a new generation under different guidance. This seems odd to some of us. There are limited jobs here in my area and a lot of people seem angry. But only to take this out on the innocent. Some days I was angry and asked why did I come back to this town. If it was not for this town I would not have gained knowledge on diversity. I had a good neighbor turn cold. He told me that when he swept at his job at a local gas station that he would sweep up PCP bottles off from the ground. So the crack epidemic is now replaced with PCP, and this new synthetic over the counter Scooby doo. But in revelance a lot of the youth remain disrespectful, and vulgar. Some older people are the same. I cannot count out the good hard working people. But this is scary. I pray to move on But I really hope that people would choose to love and help each other versus cast a parade of harassment on the people who love and support their families. Everyone need to be on one accord.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Pastor Todd, I LOVE this story--thank you so very much for provoking my thoughts today! I just realized that the two jobs I loved the best were the two that created lasting trauma for me: The plastic factory where I was employed as a mold-press operator (I was working in the factory to support my Arabian mare, Missy, who I was training for Dressage) That is the place where my hand was literally chewed up while I was making costume jewelry--my hand was severed in pieces and re-attached so that now bears little resemblance to a human hand! I was devastated when I had to give up my career with horses. Then, after I became an RN (through the grace of God since Nursing School was quite a challenge with one and one half hands!) I was attacked and raped by an inmate when working as a Jail Nurse at the local county jail. I really thought I'd be employed there forever, retiring with decent County benefits and a great pension--but after that, I just wanted to crawl into a hole and never look at another human being! That incident prompted my husband's drinking and our subsequent divorce. In some ways, the rape affected Bob more than it did me. And he does NOT believe in God, so all I can do is pray without ceasing for him. love, Kathy

Celestina Ndunda
Celestina Ndunda Thank you Pastor Todd for this story. As i read through i relate to my own life. I have been working for this company for 20years now. I trace my way through different departments, being laid off  then re-employed under hash conditions....the list is endless. In all i have trusted the Lord for my own business and i believe He has called me into ministry. Pray with me as i seek His Divine intervention about which direction i should take. Be blessed.

Tina G
Tina G Nothin like being right-sized by God! I went from being in administration in the medical field to picking up cigarette butts at a homeless shelter. It took awhile but I finally realized what a gift to get to spend time alone with God, listen to praise and worship music on my headphones, singing along, and hey I had job security! So glad for this reminder Rev because I haven't examined what I'm supposed to be doing right now. One thing for sure I'm supposed to share Gods love and mercy. And I have an audience right in front of me! (My neice and nephew in-law who are hurting) Duh! Thank you guys for continuing your mission!

Michael Griffin Good morning! How appropriate!! I had just posted yesterday how God put me in another position that of course, I wasn't crazy about, but felt blessed to be working again, instead of filing for unemployment. I still ask, "God, are you sure that THIS is where you want me to be?". I'm her for a reason!! I know it will be revealed in His time!! Thank you for this powerful message!!

Sylvia Todd Amen, Tina! We have seen the most amazing testimonies and gifts from people who were going through life with the opportunity to be alone with the Lord. One, for instance, was a milkman who would have manna fall spontaneously on his Bible. He just spent years alone, talking with God in his milk truck :).

Sylvia Todd
Sylvia Todd I wouldn't say that everything that happens to us is a blessing, Lisa. Part of the story that Dion couldn't fit in there was that he prayed for a particular sign to show him which job that God wanted for him. Dion asked to be allowed to have a tape player (I think it was a tape, anyway, maybe CD ;)) so he could play the Bible during the day. When he got to that employer, they specifically brought up that he should bring a player, without Dion having brought it up! As far as physical afflictions, we tend to pray for healing.  Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift up Lisa to you and pray that you please bless her with a great healing of her back. Please remove this cause at the root, straighten her spine, and allow her to walk, sit and rest without pain. I thank you and pray this in Jesus' name, amen!

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Thank you Prayers are always welcome. She really is doing much better . It's been about 9 months total since we new something was wrong> since the first crisis center. She has been psychosis medication free since April and she's been ok. She is now job searching and ready to move on.  Obviously we wonder if she will slip back without meds, but we are naturalist by nature and prefer natural approaches. I trust God knows the plan better than we do so we pray and have faith she is ok now. One day at a time and we are greatful for each blessed day of sanity.

Reality is>> my daughter could have been in that psychosis   indefinitely, but GOD listened to our constant prayers and healed her.  I am only greatful now that he walked with us the whole time and kept her safe from herself while she was ill.

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin We know the right verses, but do We really believe them? We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.  It means good times and bad times......The Bible gives all the answers, it's a matter of believing....How can I have regret about anything? Forget the past and move on with life. God made us promises. If a man's word is his bond, I would think God's word is stronger! Be encouraged......
