The Seed from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. We have a majestic oak tree in our yard that is older than me. It would probably take three men to reach their arms around the base of it at the moment. It stands about sixty feet tall, and the canopy is at least sixty feet across. During the hot...

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars. He calls them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power. He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called "The Place of a Skull", which is called in Hebrew, "Golgotha", where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Jesus in the middle. Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, "JESUS OF NAZARETH...

Assembly Required

  • Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I also know how to abound. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13 WEB.

I grew up on a farm in the country, but I always had a passion for computers. I never actually owned one because we were poor, and they were expensive at the time. Oh, at times, I prayed for a computer of my own, but God did not give me a computer the way He did with others. Instead, I started "attracting" computer parts like a magnet. Even in the country, somehow, the pieces began to find their way to me. I gathered a motherboard, some memory, floppy drives, a copy of DOS. Eventually, I got a power supply.

Finally, the day came when I had almost enough parts for a computer, but I had no case to put it in. So I grabbed a cardboard box, cut some holes in it, and built my first computer. An Intel 8086 clocked at 5 MHz with dual 5 1/4" floppy disk drives. Though it was quite a sight to behold, and one of the slowest ever made, to me, it was perfect! It helped shape my future, and I still use the skills I learned each day. God did give me a computer, but the real treasure was in learning to assemble it. Eventually, I ran my own computer business, which led to an online ministry, but it all began at that workbench.

There have been so many times if I had gotten what I prayed for, it would have been detrimental to my growth. I would not have learned the things that I needed to prepare me for the future. God knows the end from the beginning. He knows what is best for you in the days to come. Relax and trust His timing. Sometimes assembly is required for you to grow.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please provide what I need to grow and give me a fresh vision of the plan you have for me. I want to be a part of what You are doing today. Help me get in tune with You. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
