A Living Sacrifice from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Various sacrifices were required under the old covenant. Some of the sacrifices helped feed the priests and those who worked at the temple, but a burnt offering was placed on the altar and completely consumed by fire. You can read about...

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38 WEB.We once had a prophet come to our church who was scheduled to preach elsewhere but was canceled...

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:27 WEB.Jesus said His sheep would hear His voice, and they would follow Him, "and a stranger, they would not follow" (John 10:5). God ...

Shake it Off

  • He said to them, 'Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there. Whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them. Assuredly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!' Mark 6:10'11 WEB.

When Jesus sent the disciples out to preach the good news, they often faced rejection. Jesus told them to shake it off and then go on to the next town. There would be other people who would be glad to see them, waiting for them to arrive. The disciples were to try and share the good news but never force themselves on those who did not want to hear it. When they encountered people like that, they were to simply shake it off and move on.

God created you to be who you are. But the devil will always find someone who does not like you, or what you are doing, or what you stand for, or maybe someone who is just jealous. Then he will put them near you, so you get to hear all the negative things they have to say. If you do anything of value, there will always be someone to come oppose it. At Refreshing Hope, we have had people write in to tell us they were praying that we would burn in hell because we said, "Thank you for your support" at the bottom of the devotional.

Shake it off, move on. People who would love to be around you are just around the corner. Of course, you should behave correctly. But do not waste time worrying about what someone else thinks of you. God loves you today. What can man do to change that? Do not let someone else discourage you and hold you back from what God has in store for you.

Never be ashamed to share your faith boldly when given an opportunity. But if they don't want to hear from you, then shake it off, change the subject, and don't force the gospel on them. When they talk about you and put you down, shake it off and move on. Others will welcome the good news.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please speak to me and through me today. Put Your words in my heart and show me who to share it with. Turn me into good salt and a bright light. Help me to shake off the bad and focus on the good. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Never forget that satan still roams around seeking to condem and destroy. He's the father of all lies, but he can’t measure up to the light which is Christ.
