For the thing which I fear comes on me, That which I am afraid of comes to me. Job 3:25 WEB.As we worked to get the fish hook free of my eyelid, an actual calmness came over me. I grew up on the rivers of South Carolina fishing, and I always got nervous when people began swinging their fishing lines...

They said to you that "In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts." These are they who cause divisions, and are sensual, not having the Spirit. But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the...

Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise ...

Sleepless Nights

  • Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height? If then you aren't able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest? Luke 12:25 WEB.

We were so concerned about tomorrow that we could not sleep. We had received a subpoena late that evening and had to appear in court at seven the following morning. There was no time to prepare. That was intentional. Many things ran through our minds as we watched the sun go down and then come back up. But when the morning arrived, it turned out that all the worry had been for nothing. God came through, the case was thrown out, but I had worn myself down with anxiety.

Today has arrived, and it is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. The day has arrived, and if you are reading this, you are still here. It's going to be ok. I have spent many sleepless nights worrying about what would happen the next day, only to find that it came to nothing. God took care of it overnight, or I lived through it, and it became part of my testimony that I now share with others.

When you dwell on what may come, it will only become bigger and bigger until it consumes you. What you feed in the garden of your mind will grow, whether it is fear or faith. So deal with today's problems while it is today, and leave tomorrow's alone. God's help comes when we need it, not in advance. You will have the grace to deal with tomorrow when tomorrow gets here.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that You move in my life. Show Yourself strong and deliver me from the things holding me back. Please fulfill Your will in my life and protect me from those that seek to do me harm, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

Note: 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.' (Philippians 4:6-7) ~ If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
