In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! I AM! Don't be afraid." Peter answered him and said...

Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

The Pen And The Crackers

  • Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:31'33 WEB

One of the sweetest testimonies that I ever heard was from a missionary visiting our church. While she was on an airplane flying out to the mission field, she dug through her purse trying to find a pen to make some notes with, but she couldn't find one. She was hungry because she had not had time to eat before the flight, and they did not serve food on the plane. Normally she carried a pack of crackers with her for such a time, but that day she had none.

The missionary had brought along one extra bible to give away, and when the plane landed, she started looking for a native to give it to. She eventually found a woman that she could communicate with, and offered her the bible as a gift. The woman burst into tears and explained that she had been praying for a bible for one whole year. The grateful woman then looked through her purse for some money to give, but she only found a pen, and a pack of crackers, which she gave to the missionary.

If it matters to you, it matters to God. The small things in your life that you would not pray about, He knows about. When we get wrapped up in ourselves, we miss so much of what He has to offer. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). Place the Lord at the center of your life and things like this will automatically begin to happen. He has the pen and the crackers waiting.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I seek Your face and a deeper relationship with You today. I know that You will take care of my needs and fulfill the desires of my heart. Lord I put You first, in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen!

Note: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14) ~ If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
