Amaziah also said to Amos, 'You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there, but don't prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house!' Then Amos answered Amaziah, 'I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son, bu...

for the righteous falls seven times and rises again Proverbs 24:16 ESVOnce again, I found that it was I standing in the need of prayer. I was the man who promised he would never do it again, and then went and did it again. I had slowly drifted away, one more time. I have found that it is easy to ma...

Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, 'Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

Way Down

  • But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh. Then Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land. Yahweh's word came to Jonah the second time, saying, 'Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you.' So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to Yahweh's word. Jonah 2:9'3:3 WEB

The word of the Lord came to Jonah and told him to go to Nineveh. Jonah knew Who was speaking, and that he should go, but then he did the opposite. He ran as far away from God's will as he could get. Problems followed him, a storm overtook him. Jonah soon found himself sitting at the bottom of the sea in a custom made fish.

When he was almost dead with nothing else to live for, Jonah began to pray. God heard his prayer, and Jonah was released from his captivity. Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time. It was the same word again: 'Arise, go to Nineveh, and preach to it the message that I give you.' This time Jonah arose, went to Nineveh, and preached the message the Lord gave him.

There have been times in my life when I knew what to do, but like Jonah, I did the exact opposite. You can call it weakness, or whatever you like. I sometimes call it 'educational.' I know where that road goes, I have been there and done that.

Anytime that you choose disobedience, problems will soon follow, but it is never too late to turn it around, and it starts with a simple prayer. Can someone know God, know what to do, but then do the opposite? Jonah did. If they turn back to God and pray, will He restore them? God restored Jonah, and the same instructions came a second time. Jonah got his life back on track.

It is never too late to stop and pray. The heavy burden on your shoulders can be lifted, and the peace and joy will return. The thief on the cross had minutes left after living a life of crime, but the Lord saved him. No matter how bad you have been, you can be forgiven. No matter how far you have fallen, you can be restored. No matter how lost you are, you can be found. No matter what holds you captive, you can go free.

Prayer: Heavenly Father please forgive me of the things that I have done wrong. I turn to You today and want Your will to be done in my life. Help me see my life through Your eyes and the plan that You have for me clearly. Give me the grace to resist temptation and to reach my greatest potential in You, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: For those participating in the Creation Photography weekly themes, here is this week's challenge: Ephesians 6:1-3 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor Your Father and Mother''which is the first commandment with a promise' 'so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.' ~ In honor of Mother's, Mother's Day, and Parents all over the world, our next fun theme will be ' Mother Moments' and you get bonus cyber hugs for anyone reminding me to F>R>O>G right now! Our themes are always open wide for creative interpretation and we encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. My photos this week reflect some of my favorite mom moments and that reminder for me to keep on F>R>O>Gin' each step I take. Do take time to honor your parents whenever you can as they are a most precious gift from God that one day you will have to give back for a time and I can tell you that even through our Father's peace unmeasured, it's not easy, though without that faith and peace it would be unbearable so I am completely and utterly grateful to our heavenly Father for the comfort of knowing our goodbyes are not forever! Amen! I really love this devotional. It literally feels like Gods speaking directly to me. Today, feels like the first day in a while where I feel like this weight I've been carrying has lifted. I feel a renewal in my spirit and I feel just this overwhelming peace and joy. Before then, I've been in this deep spiral of depression and weariness. Which is out of character for me because I am always the happy joyful person. So, thanks for posting this. Today, I feel God is next to me guiding my foot steps and all my fears and worries are finally gone. I know he will always take care of my family and I. He always has and it's time to let go and just let God be there like he's always wanted. I don't want the control over my life anymore. I am fully ready to give it all to God. Hope you guys have a blessed day full of peace and joy. :)

Heavenly Father Your help has been a blessing to us, even though I feel discouraged at times I always trusted in You. Help us to listen to Your voice clearly and follow Your command, strengthen us and give us the peace we need to keep going through this journey. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen. Thank You Lord for all Your blessings.

Every day there is a message through your devotionals that lead us more closer to the Lord, thank you Pastor and Sylvia for all you do, God bless you both.
