Amaziah also said to Amos, 'You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there, but don't prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house!' Then Amos answered Amaziah, 'I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son, bu...

Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, 'Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

Let it Go

  • Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph! Does my father still live?' His brothers couldn't answer him; for they were terrified at his presence. Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come near to me, please.' They came near. 'He said, I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. Now don't be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.' Genesis 45:3 WEB

Joseph was sold into slavery when he was a youth, by his own brothers. Then he spent time in prison for a crime that he did not commit, but Joseph continued to serve God and use the gifts in his life wherever he found himself. Joseph was of exceptional character and the Lord was with him. He did not become filled with bitterness and spend his time sulking in a corner, licking his wounds, feeling sorry for himself. Joseph did not get overcome by past events, because that is all that they were, events that had happened in the past.

Joseph became the ruler over Egypt and the day came when his brothers stood before him hungry and in need. When he was given the opportunity to get even with them, Joseph pardoned them and let them go. He knew that God was in control of his life. He told them 'God sent me before you to preserve life.'

When you have bitterness against someone else, it is like drinking poison and thinking that it will hurt them, but it will only hurt you. Joseph could have become an angry, bitter person that no one wanted to be around. He could have refused to help the others around him because of the bad things that he had been through, but it would have cost him his destiny. Using his gifts to help others is what eventually freed him from prison.

When they do not want to live with you any longer, let them go. God has someone better waiting that will treat you right. When you wrongfully lose your job, let it go. Consider it a promotion, for God has a better one coming, and you would have been unavailable.

When your family has treated you like trash, let it go. God has others that will love you in their place. Stay sweet and continue to walk in love. When you feel that your entire life has been one long mistake, let it go. Turn to God and He will wash you as white as snow and give you a fresh start.

Like Joseph, God is able to lift you above those that scorn you, and instead of looking down on you, they may have to look up to you. Hold onto God every day, but let go of the events that happened in the past.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I pray that You give me the grace to let go of my past. I want to serve You Lord and to walk in all that You have for me today. Guide me, teach me, help me to see through Your eyes, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: For those participating in the Creation Photographers weekly theme, here is this week's challenge: John 11:25-26 ~ Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?' ~ 'A Gift God Gave you' or 'A Sacred Space' will be our next fun theme and, as always, is open wide for creative interpretation. Where is your sacred space? What are some gifts God has given you? We encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. This week my photos reflect my sacred space (nature) and a few of the precious gifts God has blessed me with like family, my heart blessings, connection with nature, and humor! Keep believing in God's good plans for us all, God bless! Here is the link: Creation Photographers

A very timely message for me today. Tomorrow would have been my mother's 87th birthday. According to my sister, Mom died last August hating me because of the man I married. I'll never know if that's true or just a lie fabricated by my sister...nevertheless, it hurts my heart. I refuse to allow bitterness and resentment to dominate me as I reflect on Joseph's story today. Thank you, Pastor Dion. Stay well!

Amen. No matters what others do or say it is best to continually forgive them just as God continually forgives us when we fall short. Not dwelling on the past and moving forward into the destiny that God has laid before me is all I focus on. Taking things one day at a time and continually giving God control over every aspect of my life. Sometimes its not easy but, its the best thing for me. :)

Amen! Letting go of the past, and the sins that so easily beset me, and yet I cherish the precious memories when the Lord spoke to me, even in dreams, helped me through very hard times and upheld me! All I can say to the account of Joseph is "But GOD meant it for good all along even though we have to face trials"!!! We often have a very hard time seeing the silver lining in the clouds as we go through troubled times, that goes especially for me, but speaking from experience and looking back "all I can say that GOD was always there, was always with me, even though I felt alone". So we have to be steadfast, keep on believing, trusting and praying, knowing that HE is with us, even though it doesn't feel like it at times. Even, when He is silent, He's still there and He cares!!! HE is "GOD with us"!!!
