RHM Newsletter 35: An Ad-Free Experience

  • Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV

Welcome to 2020! Thank you so much for reading our devotional and for being a part of Refreshing Hope Ministries. I hope that this message finds you blessed, healthy, and happy wherever you are.

For the last couple of years, Sylvia and I have managed to buy our groceries with the ad that displays at the top of the devotional, and therefore take less salary from RHM. It has allowed those who cannot, or choose not to give, to support RHM in a very small way by just reading the devotional. Each page view would generate a fraction of a cent, but that adds up when multiplied by thousands of views a day over a month. Enough to cover our groceries here.

That said, I hate ads. I feel they are cluttering up the internet one page at a time, ours included. I hate seeing them on Refreshing Hope. Especially after I have spent time in prayer and writing to try and bring a word from the Holy Spirit, when I see a giant distasteful ad at the top, it makes me cringe. But I also like to eat, so it has been a compromise. I would love for people to be able to enjoy the devotionals, Bible studies, and music and fellowship without this distraction. I want to present the Word of God in the best way possible.

It’s a new year, and I want to remove the third party ads from Refreshing Hope altogether and to try and increase our salary from RHM enough to cover the groceries here, about $400 a month. That or we will be eating a lot of beans and rice in the future, which fortunately we happen to love. So those of you that have never supported Refreshing Hope, please consider it. Those of you that have and do support us, thank you so much. We would not be here without you.

We are working on a completely new website that is mobile friendly, a better email delivery system, and eventually a phone app. I would love to see the new site, emails, and apps completely ad free and to be released from depending on ads for income. There are many expenses involved in all this, but today, it is mainly about groceries. I hate to talk about money, but at the same time, we like to eat, so there you have it. In short, your support will enable us to eat better.

I thank God for each of you that have prayed for us, supported us, and just took a moment to encourage us to keep going. Your gifts, no matter how small, and your prayers and words of encouragement, make all the difference to us here.

May the Lord fulfill His will in Your life, open the right doors for you and your family, protect, provide, comfort, and guide you throughout this coming year, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

    Pastor Dion

Natalie Carey Pastor Dion, I want to be able to support your ministry as I believe in what you do. That said I am the main income earner in my household and money is very tight. Please forgive me as I want to help but at this time I just can’t stretch that far. God bless you for everything you do for all of us.

Your little goes a long ways Rose. Thank you so much for thinking of us and supporting RHM at all. It is not for one person to give a lot, but for many to give a little. It is a bit like one person struggling to lift a car by themselves, when 100 people working together could lift it easily. †

Hello, Pastor!

Thank you for the update. I usually try to avoid looking at the ads, I admit. I am glad you've made the decision to remove them because I agree that they are cluttering up the internet. I know that had to be a tough decision considering the fact that we DO all like to eat. My monthly contribution to the ministry is part of my tithe, and you can be sure I will continue to send it every month. I will send additional funds on occasion as God allows as well. You are a blessing to so many, and I look forward to the daily devotions every morning and have begun to share on my feed for others to appreciate and be blessed as well. Thank you and Sylvia and all involved with RHM, and God bless you! You and the family and the ministry are in my daily prayers as well.

Praying with you, Pastor Dion and Sylvia, that God will bless this step of faith and freedom from commercial ads. I know God will show me how to stretch His generous provision and increase my giving. Blessings!

Pastor Dion, you are doing the job God has called you to do giving us His daily Word of Regreshing Hope so needed everyday. You and your wife Silvia deserve the salary for your compromise and effort your ministry requires. I know that God is the best provider, He uses who ever He wants to use, as the widow that only had a last portion for her and her son and then wait to die without any more food nor resources to keep them alive. So, as soon as money will come to my hands, I am going to start to give to your ministry. I bless you with gratitude and also soon with my finances.

Pastor, this is good news. I would always scroll quickly to RMH home page or wherever I needed to be to avoid those ads. Praise the Lord for guiding you through this.  You and Sylvia are doing a great job.  I know that the Lord will see that you are fed well and all your needs will be met.  I am praying for guidance on my gift giving.  Thank you for all you do.

Y'all are the best, thank you for all the encouragment :)! For those who expressed that you have not been able to support the ministry because of your life situations, please don't worry about that! We completely understand that each person has their own situation and priorities to deal with and appreciate you just being here :)! This is just something we thought we should bring up for those whom the Lord may lead to pitch in, and would like to know about what's going on. For those who are able and feel it is part of His plan for you to do so, we are ever grateful <3!

I might be able to give later in the year. I just moved in November and live with my daughter and kids. I only get social security so it is tight.

Dear Father, I ask that You would bless RHM with all that is needed to spread Your word. Please provide for all needs for Pastor Dion and Sylvia. I pray for an abundance to meet their needs and an excess to be able to bless others that are in need. We thank You for Your guidance, provision and protection. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

I know Father God answers prayers just from the prayer He answered for me that you were in the right place at the right time when I first started reading your devotional and God led you to stick around and start this ministry. Especially when I was going through a tough time after the loss of my wife Donielle. I thank God for you Pastor Dion, Mrs. Sylvia and this blessed ministry. Father Yahweh intended for y'all and this ministry to be here as a blessing to many. Y'all know I do what I can when I can. By God's grace and blessing may y'all keep on keepin' on with what y'all do here. In Jesus name, Amen....

Amen, Pastor Dion! I'm very grateful for your continued labor of love despite all obstacles, which also includes your dear wife Sylvia! Removing the ads is wonderful news; however, your needs must be met as well!!! Praying that the Lord will give you His direction and guidance on how to go about moving forward without the interruption of the ads, and also that the giving will be increased to meet all of your needs! It is our duty to prayerfully and financially support you as the Lord prompts and allows! We love you Pastor Dion and dear Sylvia, may your cup of blessings run over and over again, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen and Amen!
