The Birds And The Trees

See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? The ants crawling along the ground always have plenty to eat. So do the squirrels running along the tree limbs, the birds and the bees flying through the air, the fish swimming in the sea, they are all taken care of by God. Plants and trees that are rooted in place and cannot move a single step, are still taken care of by God right where they are.
Everything in nature does their part as they are able, and God takes care of the rest. He puts what they need within their reach, even if they are immobilized. We have a huge oak tree in our yard that has never taken a step from where it was born and it is nearly one-hundred years old.
The birds of the air are taken care of one day at a time. There may be a drought or a famine, and it may affect them for a while, but being that their species is not extinct, they have been taken care of pretty well for a very long time.
It is always us who start to panic when it does not happen fast enough. So many times I have been concerned about tomorrow, only to find that when it got here, everything was fine. God took care of it somehow. Look back over your life and all that you have been through, yet you are still here.
I am not saying there have not been times that lacked of wants, times of having less than I wanted to have, or felt that I deserved. The Lord knows that we have seen the unemployment line more than once, but we have never had to go hungry. There was always something to eat and something to wear.
David said 'I have been young, and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread' (Psalms 37:25).
So don't panic, don't get anxious about what you think may come. Don't let your fear snowball into something that blocks your view of God. He knows your needs, and you mean much more to Him than the birds of the air, that He also takes care of. He created us in His own image. When the need comes, so will the answer. Just continue to do your part each day and trust that God will provide what you need within your reach.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for providing for me. You are so good to me and I want more of You in my life. Lord, cover me in Your peace. Amen! Thank You Lord! I heard a teaching from this area of the Bible back in the early 90's. Matthew 6:33 says we are to seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to our lives. I put that teaching to the test of life and I can tell you all that it is true!
Thank You Father for Your abundant provisions and protection, Amen!

You know I remember times when food was little but yet our Lord saw that we did not go hungry. Although there have been some pretty meek times in my life the Lord had my back and I didn't even know it then. Thank you for always providing, my precious Lord. Thank you pastor Dion for a reminder. Thank you for this devotion. I love to read your devotions as much as I am able time permitting. I always leave with a peace in my heart after reading these devotions. God is truely for us and on our side, he is our Provider and our protector, He loves us more than anyone else in the world and way more than we can even imagine.
