When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward. Matthew 6:5 WEBIt was a hot summer day in the South and Dad and I were wo...
  • When the Minstrel Played from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the spiritual power that can be brought on by music. There is an interesting story told in 2 Kings chapter 3 when Moab rebelled against Israel. After the death of King Solomon, the nation of Israel had b...

But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out of their borders. But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium. The disciples were filled with joy and with ...

Things You Do Not Know

  • God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went, filled the bottle with water, and gave the boy drink. Genesis 21:19 WEB

The hours passed by while I struggled with a bug in a computer program that I had written, until I finally gave up and walked out of the room to get away from it for a bit. Why did this have to be so annoyingly difficult today, I thought. This should have been a ten minute job, but I have spent all day on it. All out of ideas, I sat down and prayed about it for a few minutes. Then suddenly, I knew exactly what the problem was. Within a few minutes I had isolated the bug, fixed it, and everything was fine.

My problem was not what I didn't have, but what I didn't know. With God's people, this is always the case. It is never what you don't have, it is what you don't know. No amount of tools or resources will fix what you don't know. What makes it even more difficult is that we don't even know what we don't know until it is revealed to us.

God can bring you the answer, and once you have it, you will no longer have the problem. Hagar and her son were thirsting to death in the desert, when God opened her eyes to see a hidden spring of water near her.

The Lord said: 'My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge' (Hosea 4:6). James wrote: 'But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him' (James 1:5).

Don't limit the wisdom and knowledge of the Creator of the universe to the Bible. The Holy Spirit knows more about technology, medicine, physics, history and so much more, than mankind ever will. He is able to give you wisdom in all areas of life if you take the time to ask Him.

There have been so many times when I did not know what to do, but God would come to my rescue when I took the time to ask Him. Joshua and the Israelites became bound by a treaty with the enemy because they did not inquire of the Lord first (Joshua 9:14).

When you are tempted to say, 'if only I had'' get somewhere quiet, calm your mind, and pray that God will reveal what you may be missing. You already have more than you think, but so often we cannot see it until the Lord reveals it to us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father please open my eyes to see the resources around me that You have already provided. I know in my heart that You are the answer, for all wisdom, knowledge and resources are under Your control. Please share them with me today, in the name of Jesus of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: For those who are participating in our Creation Photographers theme of the week: Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." ~ 'A Parade of Lights' will be our next fun theme. There are many ways to get creative with this one - you can show us your favorite holiday lights, sky lights, street lights, DIY home electrical projects, or even spotlight people you know / admire for the way they shine bright before others to glorify God! Have a marvelous week everyone and let that light shine bright! Here is the link: Creation Photographers
