Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms 46:10 WEBIt was another busy day with so much to do, so many bills, so much going on, the pressure and anxiety kept me up most of the night. It seemed like I spent most of my time these days trying to solve tomorrow's problems before they got here, and don't even get me started on the news. On top of that, I felt tired all the time from stress, worry, and lack of sleep.
With all of this going on, I really did not have time to pray or read my Bible much. I wanted to, it just got squeezed out of the day by one important thing after another by living a life of emergencies. Jesus said: 'What was sown among the thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful' (Matthew 13:22). I was becoming 'unfruitful'.
We spend our health trying to obtain wealth, then spend the wealth trying to recover our health. When I did slow down and pray, the Lord said "Why not let me be God for a while?" I guess in my hustle and bustle that I had replaced Him as the center of my life. Once again, I had lost my focus. He was no longer the God of my life, either I was, or my problems, depending on what day it was.
Put God first in your life, talk to Him, inquire of Him when making decisions, invite Him to be a part of your day, and then the other things will fall into place automatically. Jesus said: 'But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well' (Matthew 6:33). When you do lose yourself in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).
Let God be God for a while today and stop trying to be Him. He can carry much more than you can. He can handle the pressure. He can see what is coming down the road and prepare you for it. Sometimes we just need to be still and let God, be the God of our life.
