The disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52 WEBWhile at the beach one day, I watched some kids playing with a beach ball. They would hit the ball and it would soar into the air, but then gradually float back down to the earth. Without some form of lift, the ball will alwa...

The Journey from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the journey of life. Our thinking is often consumed with what is happening today, or tomorrow, or sometimes what happened yesterday. God thinks in the long term. He can see our entire life at once. Think of it like t...

'He said to another, 'Follow me!' But he said, 'Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.' But Jesus said to him, 'Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce the Kingdom of God.' Another also said, 'I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to bid farewell to those who ...

Shattered Dreams

  • At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me. My counselors and my lords sought me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added to me. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase. Daniel 4:36 WEB

Nebuchadnezzar was a great king that ruled over most of the known world during his life. He had conquered many nations, he had great dreams, and he built huge palaces. Then he became very prideful over all that he had built. The Lord warned him in a dream, and the prophet Daniel interpreted it for him, but he refused to listen or correct his course. In the height of his power, it was all suddenly taken away from him.

Nebuchadnezzar lost his mind and then wandered about the fields eating grass like an ox. His hair grew as long as eagle feathers and his nails like bird claws. After seven years of this, he lifted his eyes to heaven and his mind was restored, and then his kingdom. Though Nebuchadnezzar had allowed pride to mess up his life, when he humbled himself before God, he was restored and he became even greater than before.

There was a time in my life where I was pretty sure that I had wrecked the plans that God had for me, but He is a God of restoration. He can take the broken pieces of your life and make it into something beautiful. It is not too late, and though we cannot change yesterday, we can choose our actions today, and that will begin to shape our future.

If you have had a dream shattered, know that God is able to restore it. He can help you put it back together. It is not gone, just delayed while we get a bit more polished and able to handle what He is giving us. His delay does not mean denial. The longer the wait, the greater the blessing that comes.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please give me a new hope and a fresh vision. Restore the dream that You have for me and make it a reality. Lead me into new things and help me balance my attitudes during this time, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people" (Ephesians 6:18). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
