Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" Say Nothing Negative

  • Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient. Matthew 6:31-34 WEB

We sat quietly at the dinner table while we ate our food. Normally we talked and laughed, but tonight we were both worried about tomorrow. We had found a lien on our property for a tax bill that we never owed, but it had accumulated late fees until it was now more than we had. Disputing it was going to be a challenge in the least because it was over a decade old.

What could we do? We called the state tax office to begin a dispute and they explained that the record was so old that it had been archived and removed from their system. They would have to restore it from a backup, and that would be an overnight process, so told us to call back tomorrow.

My wife Sylvia and I sat down together and prayed over the situation, and I heard three words: 'Say nothing negative.' It was the only word for that day, so we stood on it and just said nothing at all, because my every single thought was negative. It was very difficult to not whine and complain and talk about all the different scenarios and the 'what if' that may happen. We managed to restrain ourselves, and ate our food in silence.

After a night of silence, the morning came and we called the department of revenue back. To our surprise, the tax office was extremely polite and had cleared the lien. We owed them nothing. They took care of all of the paperwork and explained that because we never owed the original tax bill, we did not owe the late fees and penalties either.

Do not worry about tomorrow. Pray and try to follow the Lord as best you can today, even though you don't understand. Let tomorrow worry about itself. One word from God changes everything. Many times, the things that we are worried about will never come to pass, unless we open our mouth and invite it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for being on my side. Please give me the grace to say nothing negative and remind me that the words I speak matter, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Thank You Pastor Dion for the Devotional Reading. I have to learn to put my worries aside sometimes and just enjoy the day. Instead of living in the past.

This is such a good reminder to leave all of our worries to God and he takes care of the rest.  Dear Father in Heaven thank you for your most precious Son Jesus who carries our burdens and understands when we worry and don't know what to do or where to turn, but yet the answer is evident, we must turn to Jesus as he is our comforter, peace maker, but most of all our divine Savior who will stop at nothing to ensure our happiness as well as give us peace.  I say thank you Jesus for ALWAYS being by my side, in your most precious name I pray, Amen!!

Wow, this is right on target with an incident that happened yesterday. It was my doing and I had to apologize for it.

This one touched closer to home than I'd like and as I was reading the other comments, realized I received a totally different message from it. Yep, Daddy God is like that.

Thanks for sharing.
