Seek Yahweh while he may be found. Call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him, to our God, for he will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:6 WEBI am a morning person. I like to get the most important work of the day done as early as possible, and in the afternoon I enjoy playing music, writing songs, gaming, and other pursuits. I prefer to spend my quiet time with the Lord in the morning before my brain is drained of all its energy. However for a couple of months, I was called to pray every day at about 3 PM. It became a driving desire, a hunger, and the most important thing in my life for a season.
Rather than doing the usual things that I would normally do, each day I would go into my room, close the door and pray from one to three hours. It was not your normal praying either. I laid on the floor with my face on the carpet in tears, and the Lord's presence would cover me like a blanket. There was such a sweet fellowship that it was all that I wanted to do. Eventually it lifted, life returned to normal, and I returned to my morning time.
It was a very rewarding experience, but it preceded a very dark time in my life where my faith was strained to the breaking point. I am not sure what I would have done if I had not spent the time in prayer leading up to it, and when I finally came out of the test, He pushed me into full time ministry. The time in prayer brought the breakthrough.
The Lord is always with us, but there are special times when He wants you to come aside and spend some quality time with Him. These are times when He draws near to you, calls you to take a break from the daily routine, and to spend time with Him. He uses it to bring fresh fire into your life, inspiration, to prepare you for what is coming. If you feel the Lord tugging at your heart and prompting you to come aside for a while, don't neglect Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You so much. Please have Your way in my life. Lead me and I will follow. Call me and I will come. Open the door, and I will go through it. I want more of You in my life today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.Note: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people" (Ephesians 6:18). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page:
