Living Right When Wronged

  • And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night. 1 Samuel 19:10 ESV

Saul was jealous of David, filled with rage. Completely consumed by it, he even attempted murder, but David evaded him and left the city. Saul became an evil man, and though he refused to kill all the Amalekites when the Lord asked him to (1Sam 15:9), he was fine with completely wiping out the Lords priests along with their families and livestock (1Sam 22:19).

Once when David literally caught Saul with his trousers down, the men with him in the cave were excited and thought this was a gift from God, but David spared him (1Sam 24:4). Another time David and Abishai crept up on Saul while he was sleeping and took his spear. Abishai wanted to finish the job and pin Saul to the ground, saying, I will not have to strike him twice (1Sam 26:8).

Time after time, David was given the opportunity to kill Saul, but he refrained. David was a better man and because of the calling on his life, would not stoop to Sauls level. David had killed thousands of men in battle, including Goliath. He was certainly not afraid of Saul. David wanted to do the right thing. He wanted to please God and would not harm the one that God had anointed. He just waited, and the day came when God made it right. David became the king.

Dont stoop to your enemies' level. Because of the calling on your life you need to take the high ground. In time, God will make it right. Two wrongs will never equal right, but right will always be right. God sees the things that you are going through and He has an amazing memory. Gods delay is not His denial.

Martin Snyder
Martin Snyder I am reminded of Isaiah 40:31. It is on my coffee cup and on the plaque hanging above my desk. It is also permanently etched on my brain. The bigger the picture, the longer it takes to set all the dominoes in place before they can be set in motion. Like it or not, He knows what He's doing, "wait for it..."

Kara DiNunzio
Kara DiNunzio Oh how easy it is to get snared in this trap. The higher road is always the right way, but it can be hard. I pray continually over this.  Too many times I feel I've been wronged in this life.....only to find out that I made my choices. Me alone made these choices. Forgiveness.  To others and yourself is key.  Bless you all. Happy Friday

Judy Cole Many, many years ago God revealed to me everything you shared in this devotional.  The Lord reminded me of this very word when I was going through a situation.  He not only reminded me of the time David was being hunted by Saul, and had the opportunity to kill him, but refused.  But I had to ask Him what this had to do with my situation, and He showed me.  I knew exactly what I had to do!  Praise God!  He is so good to us!

Carol Pady
Carol Pady I find it more than coincidence that I read these verses in my morning Bible study. I have found the best defense is God's defense. If I pray that no weapon formed against us prospers, the good Lord steps in and either changes the heart of the offender or removes them from our lives. Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord!

Judy Cole When you pray, ask the Lord to heal deep wounds and hurts deep inside you.  Often we push those things down, trying to forget, and ignore things people say and do to us that hurt so much.  But they are still there, festering.  I know God can and will heal that area.  Many years ago I had a weight problem.  I weighed over 350 lbs.  One night my pastors wife asked if she could pray for me.  When she started praying, she was praying  for God to heal deep hurts and wounds.  Weeks later I noticed my clothes were getting loose, and I began to try to figure out why.  I realized that before she prayed, I thought of food all day.  After she prayed, It would be 2 pm, and I realized I hadn't eaten, and was hungry.  I lost down to 306, then 245, then I now weigh 195.

Judy Cole When you pray, ask the Lord to heal deep wounds and hurts that are pushed deep down in your spirit.  Often when people say and do hurtful things we tend to try to ignore and forget, but they are still there.  God in His infinite wisdom can heal those hurts and pains.  I know because He healed me.  I used to have a weight problem, (I weighed over 350 lbs) that was an outward manifstation of an inward problem!  After being prayed for, I lost down to 306... without trying, to 245, to what I weigh now...195.  This all began with that prayer!!!  Used to think about food all day, but after being prayed for deep wounds and hurts by things people said and did, it would be 2pm and I would realize I hadn't even thought of eating.  God healed that area of my life,  and He will do it for you!

Just think how much we love our children, it is far beyond measure, well, Jesus loves us so much more than we could ever imagine. He will protect us from any weapon that is formed against us and He will put angels around us to protect us in everyway. God bless you:):)

Deleted Member Loriann, when we put our trust in Jesus, He will make thinkgs right in our time. Turn this job and the hurt and pain that is being caused at work,, that God would touch their hearts and come to know Jesus and until He moves you out or them out, that there will come a peace and calmness over you, like never before, and that they will no longer cause you pain or hurt. I know even we try to do the right things, satan will try us to see if we will act like him. But if we stand for what is right and act like Jesus, then we are putting our trust and faith in Him and He will take care of us. God bless you:):):)

Praise God:):)

Deleted Member Kathy, we are all broken people in someway and it is very painful to even think about forgiving people that have hurt us. But we have to give it all to Jesus, because we are human and we can only find the way to overcome the anger and unforgiveness we feel towards others is through Jesus. He can heal our hearts and then we can just put them in His Hands and He will help us get through it all. (Through it all we learn to trust in God). This is an old Hymn, that has so much meaning. God bless you:):):)

Paul f David did not want to stoop to Sauls level.  I am reminded of this too.  People are allowed to have bad days, just the way that it is, and I am not sure what they may be going thru.  Usually for me if it is good it is from God.  If it is not good, not from God.  Then I have to make sure that I am not reacting to others and act.  This is me.

Cheryl Hepler I try to remember to pray for those around me who bring accusations and am not understanding but to stand quietly to listen.  I have this with an older daughter and saw it at a younger part of her life.  Drugs I wondered or a mental condition I have no knowledge to say.  It seems in about 7 yrs when she usually pops up to want a visit ( for I know not where she comes from) the episodes get worse and worse.  It is as though she wants to hurt me.  I during the time hug her much and repeatedly say of my love for her.  Because we are a big church online I wondered if anyone as any experience in this I describe.  I thank you now if so.  Blessings!

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin Cheryl, it's the most helpless feeling ever, You blame yourself, stop it right now, this is how the devil deceives us again. It is not your fault, it is sin, my brother, gifted voice, you can hear God in his voice, many years on drugs, stealing from his family. He is now in church, but still fight the demons inside, suffers from depression. I think the devil fights him so much, because he has an anointing on his life. You can love and pray for your child....Trust and believe. I will be holding her in my heart and praying for her all well.

Rhonda Teem
Rhonda Teem Dion, thank you for this devotional today. The last paragraph was so true. This message has opened my eyes, and made me realize that I don't need to go after my  apartment complex management and sue them for all the harassment. lol. Through this devotional (especially the last paragraph), God helped me see that this problem has pretty much resolved itself, and that I need not worry now. Also, it is not up to me to go after them; it's God that will take care of it, so no worrying. Literally, this is what I received from God just now. Thank youuuuuu :D

Virginia Turner
Virginia Turner Hi, Dion..... this devotional really put a handle on my present situation.  Yes, I do need to move on to a new kind of job and am trying to find one.  My job of 19 years, full time and part time, must end soon.  The income is too low to make it worthwhile.  Also I have been betrayed just too many times by this person who has no use for me and have been treated by both of her sons, as well as her, very scornfully, and robbed, however, I never sued or struck back, but it was so paralyzing emotionally and spiritually.  I think it has made me a little stronger.  She is very bold in her cruelty toward me through the people in my life at this time.  She is much smarter than me and very subtle in the way she does it.  She knows that as long as I am stripped of any extra money, that is really mine,  she can keep me from succeeding in anything.  She said she would not help me in any way to do ministry.  She has no interest in my spiritual growth or welfare.  I have never had any hate or anger toward this person, but I have become very discouraged and frustrated, because I always wanted her to be a friend to me.  But that is impossible to expect that from someone who just doesn't care about you.  This is where I do need much prayer, as this current situation is really hurting me.  Thanks, Dion.  It is horrible to be all alone in this with no close friends to turn to.
