Good Neighbors from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the importance of being a good neighbor. Ever since Adam and Eve had kids and one killed the other, it has been an ongoing thing, learning to live with one another. Most of the ten commandments are about how we tr...

When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Selah. I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn't hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave t...
  • The man said, 'They have left here, for I heard them say, 'Let's go to Dothan.' ' Joseph went after his brothers, and found them in Dothan. They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them, they conspired against him to kill him. They said to one another, 'Behold, this dreamer comes. Come now ...

One Step at a Time

  • By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went. By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. Hebrews 11:8 WEB

The Lord told Abram to leave his father's house and country and travel to a land that He would show him in Genesis chapter 12. After this it simply says, "So Abram went as the Lord had told him." What a step of faith it was for Abram to leave his country and his family, without even knowing where he was going.

At this point, God had not done anything for Abram except to tell him to leave his home. Yet he stayed positive, completely convinced that God was able to do what He had told him. Abram did not have to leave his country at all if he had chosen not to. He made a choice to do what God told him, and now we read about Abraham, the father of nations. If Abram had chosen not to go, God would have used someone else, and we might be reading about someone named Mathias the father of nations instead.

Only the first step of God's plan was revealed to Abram: 'leave this place.' Then after Abram obeyed, God gave him the next step. He walked with God one step at a time, often not understanding why or where. When God tested Abram by asking him to sacrifice Issac, do you think that he wondered why? I would have. Abram was successful in life because He trusted God. That is the essence of faith. You take the first step that He shows you and trust Him to take care of the rest.

Many times in my life I did not understand what the Lord was doing or why. I just had to take that next step and trust that the problem was going to work itself out, and it did, time after time after time. If you hold onto what God has told you and walk through the doors that He opens for you, things will work out. Though it is a narrow path lined with thorns, He has cleared the way in front of you. So stop looking to the left or the right, and focus on Jesus. Trust Him and do not let fear and unbelief hold you back. You do not have to understand where this is going or why, because He does.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for taking care of me. I know that You can see the big picture while I am limited to just today. Please draw my heart to You Lord and let me know You in a deeper way, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen! Trust  the Lord to get you to where you are supposed to be going, I often struggle with this, But I read another devotional this morning which compliments this one Pastor Dion wrote, God also protects us from things as well, Sometimes you may be in a hurry to get some where, and you get held up, miss a flight, get stuck waiting on a train and so on, It could be that God is protecting you from unseen perils! Bottom Line He will take care of us and provide and protect us :)
