  • Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every city and place where he was about to come. Then he said to them, "The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send ou...

Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth dea...

The Runaway

  • Moses answered, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, 'Yahweh has not appeared to you.' Yahweh said to him, 'What is that in your hand?' He said, 'A rod.' He said, 'Throw it on the ground.' He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses ran away from it. Exodus 4:1 WEB

Moses had a staff that he carried around with him. It was nothing special at the beginning, but after a meeting with God, the staff transformed into an object of power. At the same time that it grew in power, it also grew into something scary, and Moses ran away from it.

After Moses ran away, the Lord calmed him down, called him back, and taught him how to handle it properly. Moses then took the staff and set out to free his people from slavery. This time he knew how to handle it and he was no longer scared of it.

Sometimes the Lord will take something that you already have and turn it into something powerful, but at the same time it can get scary. The risks, the responsibilities, and the pressure can make you want to run away from it, but only staying with it will cause the victory will come. The Lord rarely takes you around an obstacle. He will take you straight through the middle of it.

If there is something in your life today that you want to run away from, be sure to pray about it first. God was able to tell Moses what to do, and He will tell you as well. If He does not answer, then it must not be important, but sincerely give Him the chance to. Don't run away from what could be your calling without first asking His advice about it. Do not let fear rob you of what could be.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I look to You today and ask for clear guidance in my life. I want Your will to be done and to have a closer relationship with You. Calm my fears as You did with Moses and teach me what I need to know, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people" (Ephesians 6:18). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Hi.

I have some concerns about the comment in the email I received in regards to this devotional.

"The Daily Word of Hope Devotional

Bible Fun Fact: There are 7 women named Mary in the New Testament.

Hi rebecca,

Fear can rob you of the plan that God has for you if you let it. Don't let it scare you away! Never be afraid to try.

The portion below says:

Remember... amateurs built the ark, professionals built the Titanic. "

1. The ark was built by Noah.   He is not an amateur.   The word of God says as follows:

So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord . This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
Genesis 6: 7-9

As far as I can remember the Titanic sank and a lot of people died.

I understand the message,  however I believe that the example given in a comment about the ark and the Titanic should be modified.

Unless you can explain, advice otherwise in regards to the comment used.

Thank you.

Becky, Noah was an amature, the Bible says it had never Rained before so there was no need for a ship. It also took nearly 100 years to build it. Sounds like an amature to me.

Professionals built the Titanic and it failed while an amateur Noah built the Ark and it succeeded with God’s assistance.

The key thing here is to remember that Noah obeyed God and the ark was completed just as our Father instructed him to do.....   How great is the mercy and grace of our God! Halleluhjah!

Heavenly Father I thank you for this Message. I ask that you prepare me for the tasks ahead so that when you open these doors I will not run like Moses did. Prepare my heart to appreciate and my mind to understand: prepare my spirit to always be connected to you for instructions and my will power to execute effectively that which you have purposed for me to accomplish, in Jesus  name I pray. Amen

Amen and Amen!!! What I have learned in my walk with the Lord and in my prayer life is that if He doesn't answer right away it could mean an outright "No", or that it isn't/wasn't important or that I just have to be patient, continue to pray and wait on Him; He knows best, for He is my Heavenly Father!
