Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its se...

When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8...

Band on the Run

  • Yahweh, how my adversaries have increased! Many are those who rise up against me. Many there are who say of my soul, 'There is no help for him in God.' Selah. But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. Psalms 3:1 WEB

David wrote these words while fleeing from his own son Absalom, who plotted to kill David and become king in his place. Almost everyone that David knew turned against him and sided with Absalom. David had to leave town and hide, even though he was the rightful king (2 Samuel 15:14). In short, David's life fell apart overnight, and his own family sought to kill him.

David had earned this. His own actions had brought it. David had an affair with a beautiful woman named Bathsheba, she became pregnant, so David had her husband killed to cover it up, then he married her. It looked like a pious act, the king taking in a poor pregnant widow who's husband had been killed in battle, but God knew the truth.

Nathan the prophet told David this in 2 Samuel 12:11 'This is what Yahweh says: 'Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes, and give them to your neighbor, and he will lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. For you did this secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.' Three chapters later, that all happened, and David was on the run.

It was during this time that David wrote Psalms 3. David and his band of followers were on the run, but they continued to praise God and even wrote songs about it. David wrote that God was a shield about him to protect him from harm, even though there were thousands of people chasing him at the time. The Lord was his glory (splendor, honor, and wealth) and the Lord lifted (exalted) his head. Though David had earned this hardship, God was still with him and He did protect him from harm.

David recognized that his promotion did not come from man, and neither would his demotion come from a man. David trusted that the Lord would resolve it, and He did. While pursuing David, Absalom got his head caught in a tree and met a quick ending (2 Samuel 18:9). God used a simple unmoving tree to bring down the prideful Absalom.

Even if you have rightfully earned what you are going through, continue your relationship with God. Sing praises to His name and it will invite His presence into your situation. Give the problems over to God and know that He will make things right. He will protect you through it and exalt you in due time. Promotion comes from the Lord, and no one can take it away unless He allows it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I put my trust in You today. My life is in Your hands and You are in control of what happens to me. No one has the power to snatch me from Your hand. Please fulfill Your will in my life, guide me, teach me, speak to me and through me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people" (Ephesians 6:18). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Thank you Father in Heaven for ALWAYS guiding me and NEVER leaving me; even when I stray, you are with me and will cover me with your love, compassion and understanding.  I know there are times when I have done wrong and I do repent, for I never want to hurt anyone nor do I wish any harm to others even when they have wronged me, I may think it and feel it, but deep down, I know in the end, you will take care of everything for you are POWERFUL and JUST!  Amen!!

I have gone through some difficult times and I deserved it because I strayed from Gods word and wasnt making His word a daily part of my life, but God did not leave me, he still cared for me although I didnt deserve His care. I am must better for having gone through the trying times because I learned some valuable lessons that I will never forget and I have put God first in my life and strive to read the Bible daily and pray continually, and sing praises to His Holy name. God has been so good to me in the last 14 years. He has really looked after me and taken care of my every need. I am so blessed by my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ!
