Therefore Mary took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed Jesus's feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. Pearls And Pigs

  • This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn't know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you. John 15:12 WEB

Once while having dinner at a friend's house, there was a lady there who was an in-law to an in-law. Though it was our first time meeting her, she was extremely nosey and began prying into everyone's personal life at the table and giving them 'life tips.' Eventually she turned her attention to Sylvia and I.

After being thoroughly questioned about our relationship, our family members, and our neighbors, I began to feel like we were being interrogated. She was apparently farming fresh gossip to use later. Those that you hear talking about others, talk about you after you leave, so I ended the conversation as politely as I could. This stranger was not my friend, they had no stake in my life, and I had no reason to answer their questions.

So does the Lord with His truths. He will not cast His pearls before pigs (Matthew 7:6). He does not share His precious, life giving truths with those who are not serious about knowing Him. When they read the Bible, they will find exactly what they expect to find. That is why so many people just don't get the Bible, for the natural mind cannot understand spiritual things (1 Corinthians 2:14). Those are revealed by the Spirit. Also the servant does not know what the Master is doing, but the friend does. Jesus said that we are His friends, if we follow His commandments.

It all begins with a relationship with Jesus. As you focus on drawing close to God and talking to Him everyday, your understanding will grow. You can read the same verse seventy times and not understand it, then suddenly one day it will click and make perfect sense, when He reveals it to you. Grow in your prayer life and relationship, and you will also grow in your understanding of His word. Understanding His word, depends directly on how well you know Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for sharing Your wisdom and knowledge with me. I look to You Lord, my help comes from You. Please grow my understanding of Your word. Guide my steps and help me make the right decisions, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
