For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees? But if we hope for that which we don't see, we wait for it with patience. Romans 8:24 WEB'Oh I don't want to face tomorrow. I have a bad, bad, feeling about this.' On and on we go into a spiral of self pity and hopelessness. Fear, anxiety, and depression begin to snowball and soon consume us. Eventually there is a complete lack of hope, and only bleak darkness is left.
Hope can be defined as expectation, trust, and confidence. Knowing that something good is coming your way. Fear can be defined as anxious, apprehensive, alarmed, or dread. Knowing that something bad is coming your way.
They are polar opposites, and you cannot live in one realm, while walking in the other. A strange thing is that neither of these are seen. Like the wind, both are invisible, and it really takes just as much faith and energy to believe one, as the other. The difference is that one builds you up, and the other brings you down.
Do not waste your energy on fear, channel it into hope. Instead of speaking about the bad thing that might happen, talk about the good that you would like to see happen. Then act accordingly and wait patiently for it to come to pass. God does hear our prayers. He is not deaf. We just have to learn to grow up a little and to trust Him along the way. He has got this, and when it is over and you are looking back, you will feel silly to have doubted Him. I always do.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for today and I am looking forward in hope for what You are doing in my life. I know that You will see me through whatever I face, and I look to You for my needs. My help comes from the Lord.
