If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

Walk on Water from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. An extraordinary event unfolds in Matthew chapter 14, one that is unparalleled elsewhere in the Bible: a common fisherman defying the laws of nature by walking on water. This miraculous feat wasn't performed by Jesus, but rather by Peter, a ...

Alone In The Quiet

  • Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid or scared of them; for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 WEB

We can become so withdrawn sometimes that we begin to feel that it is us against the world. That no one cares or even notices what we are going through, and struggling with. Even in the middle of a crowd we can feel alone, and all the while, God seems silent.

Yet we are not alone. The Lord tells us repeatedly through scripture to be strong and courageous, just as He told Joshua. We are not to live in fear and dread for He is with us and will never leave, nor forsake us. No one can snatch you out of His hand. When the enemy comes in, like a flood God will raise up a standard against him. What I have learned is this:

    1) God's silence does not mean that He is mad with you.

    2) God's silence does not mean that He has rejected you.

    3) God's silence does not mean that He has given up on you.

    4) God's silence does not mean that He has forgotten you.

His silence is like a dramatic pause in poetry, for the next thing that He says will often be very important. In early 2012, for three months I was covered with His presence every day. I would lay on the floor in my music room and pray for two to three hours at a time, soaking, basking in His presence. The Holy Spirit would descend like a warm blanket when I entered the room and there was no where that I would rather be.

Then came several months of dry, lonely, silence. When I would pray, I heard and felt nothing. It was as if the heavens were made of brass. At the same time, our business dried completely up, and the bills began to pile up. Eventually I began to feel abandoned and desperate. Then one morning I went into my room and sat down on a bean bag, He spoke, and by Friday we found ourself in full time ministry.

If your conscious is clear, no nagging feeling to correct something in your life, then continue on the path that you are on until you get new directions. There have been so many times in my life that I thought that I was off His path. That I must be, because I could no longer hear from God. That somewhere I missed a turn and now I was walking alone.

Now looking back, it always turned out that I was merely on a straight part of the road and that I did not need a course correction at that time. Eventually the next door would open up, He would speak to me again, and I would realize that He had been there the entire time. I merely had to go from point A to point B, and I would not be here, if I had not first been there. He tends to give us new direction at the crossroads.

Be encouraged today, for no matter where you are, you are not alone. For it is the Lord God Almighty who goes with you. When the trouble comes, so will the answer. Keep the Lord first in your life, and all the other things will fall into place as needed. Do not fear what may come tomorrow, for you will be prepared to face it when it arrives.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I know that You are here and I choose to believe that all things will work together for good, whether I understand them or not. Please walk with me and talk with me today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

What if....He gave us a direction and we missed it... what if we weren't sure it was his direction so we didn't take it?

Heavenly Father, right now I feel like I'm in the middle of a crossroad and in need of Your directions. I know I'm not alone but it feels that way, hear my prayers oh Lord and give me directions. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. Praise the Lord.

Excellent devotional, God bless you Pastor.

Thank you so much for this read and article for today. I definitely needed to see this because I am at a crossroad. I really need to hear from God because there is a deep silence for quite some time now. I've been laid off from my job since February 22nd and at this point in my life I'm really trying to seek him more and find out where he wants me to move forward next. But I don't hear his voice and I do feel alone. I have lost friendships and sometimes I don't feel like I can speak with family. It's like I want advice but I don't know which way to go forward besides God, but I don't hear his voice. I am seeking him so, more and more and desire so much from him; nevertheless, I just don't hear anything. There is complete silence. I need to know what's next in my life and where to move. I am very happy not having the stress where I come from working with this company, and quite frankly, I'm a little elated for the layoff. However, I just don't know where to go next. At times I actually don't even want to live here in Jacksonville Florida anymore and is waiting for God to open up a door for me to relocate. But I don't know if that's smart nor wise. I really need a sense of direction and I need to be sure that I am on the right path to what God wants me to do and not just make a haste decision. Thank you again so much for this article because this is 100% where I am right now. With all the love Tiffany

Amen!!! What a blessed thought to know that we are not alone, even though our Lord is silent at times!!! As I'm learning and growing I came to the understanding and knowledge that He is right there waiting on me as I'm waiting on Him. This is still sweet communion with my Lord! He is working on me and all of my short comings! Trials, testings and even His silence at times are "for the prefecting of the saints" - that's what is says in His word! I'm far from being a saint, just a sinner saved by HIS blood! Blessed be His holy name!!!
