Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. Complaining About the Present

  • They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey. The people spoke against God and against Moses: 'Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!' Numbers 21:4 WEB

The Israelites slowly made their way towards the promised land, but it took a lot longer than it should. In fact, it was only an eleven-day journey (Deuteronomy 1:2), but it took forty years because of bad attitudes, and disobedience. Grumblings of "I am thirsty!", "Where is the food', and "Are we there yet?" were probably heard throughout the crowd.

When God did provide food for them, they hated it. Numbers 11:6 tells us: 'but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!' Complaining all the way, they went around and around the same mountain until they all died. The complainers never did enter the promised land for all of them died in the wilderness, but their children went there with Joshua and Caleb.

It is human nature to want to get where we are going. We set out to go to somewhere and we just want to get there. Always looking at tomorrow: when the weekend comes we are going to' when our vacation comes we are going to' when we retire we are going to' while completely ignoring our life that is quickly passing by us today.

Remember this: Your life is happening while on this journey, and your attitude and how you react to it will determine how long that it takes you to reach your goals. Enjoy today while it is today, lighten up and laugh a little. Keep a positive attitude. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You so much for the food that You have provided for me, and I appreciate it. Thank You for all that You do for me. Thank You that I am still breathing today. I am not ashamed to say that my help comes from You Lord and I am truly grateful. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen! Life is very short. I look back over the 66 years I have been alive and just wonder how they could have gone by so fast. I am so greatful to God because I would not want to do this over again. I never want to go back! Thank You God the I do not have to.
