If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

By Sunrise

  • They said to the messengers who came, Thus shall you tell the men of Jabesh Gilead, Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance. The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad. 1 Samuel 11:9 WEB

The Ammonites besieged Jabesh Gilead, and it looked pretty hopeless for the people who were living there. The Ammonites told the people to give up and come out, but they held on and sent out messengers to plead for help.

When Saul heard the news, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he told them to wait one more day. That by the time the sun was hot tomorrow, they would be delivered. He gathered his men, and at sunrise the battle began. The Ammonites were defeated. The city was rescued from the siege.

The people of Jabesh were pressured by the enemy to give up, but when they held on for one more day, God sent them help. Many times when we are under pressure, we just need to hold on one more day for our deliverance to arrive. In a matter of hours, things changed for them. Their breakthrough was so close, but if they had surrendered to the enemy, it would have been a defeat instead of a victory.

So don't give up today when things look dark or hopeless, because deliverance can be so close. There have been many times that I have went to bed worried, but when I woke up, the problem had resolved itself. The Spirit of the Lord watches over you and there is nothing hidden from Him. It just may be that by the time the sun is hot tomorrow, that your situation will have changed for the better.

Prayer: Heavenly Father please send the Comforter to me today. You know my needs before I even ask them, and above all Lord, I need more of You. Help me hang on, draw my heart to You, and guide me into all that You have for me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Once again, thank you Pastor Dion for this word today. We just need to hang on one more day, even when things look hopeless for us and we dont know which way to turn. I have been through many trials in my life and at times have wondered when and how this trial would end. I prayed for God to speak to me, to give me His wisdom and guide me to His Truth. God is so amazing and is always on time and never late. God knows what we need before we even ask Him but He wants us to ask Him and to trust Him with our lives. If we need something we only need ask Almight God to provide for us. He will always do this but it is in His timing not in ours. When we finally get through this trial we will be refreshed and gain a deeper understanding of God and His wonderful mercy and love for us. Every trial that I have gone through has brought me closer and closer to God and given me great insight and knowledge from the Holy Spirit. When I was young, I used to think that I just had a very strong conscience that would tell me not to do something, now in my more mature years I know that this has been the Holy Spirit leading and guiding me in all Truth as Jesus said that He would. The more I learn to listen for the Holy Spirit the more I hear Him and I know that I can trust Him to lead me to safety and to deliver me from my dilema and trial.
