Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they didn't repent. 'Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Bu...

The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn't dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. Acts 17:24 WEBWhen I was growing up, we us...

RHM Devotional: Heroes and Monsters from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the potential of being a Hero, or a Monster, that exists inside each one of us. We get to choose. Once when Jesus was preaching from a boat, He told a parable about a man that sowed wheat in H...

Intervention

  • He came into a house. The multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. When his friends heard it, they went out to seize him: for they said, 'He is insane.' The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, 'He has Beelzebul' Mark 3:19 WEB

When I first got saved, I lost every friend that I had, but quickly gained new ones in my church family. I was born an American heathen, and the friends that I had scattered like roaches when a light is turned on at the mention of Jesus.

Have you ever shared your faith with someone who just thought that you had lost your mind and had them ask, "What has happened to you?" I have. Being radical seemed to come to me naturally, but subtlety was something that I had to learn over the years.

It is comforting to know that when Jesus was on earth, at one point His own family thought that He was 'Out of His mind.' They staged an intervention and tried to seize Him. His family and friends thought that He had lost it: 'For not even his brothers believed in Him' (John 7:5). To make matters even worse, the highly respected religious leaders from Jerusalem thought that Jesus was possessed by a demon.

No one that previously knew Jesus seemed to understand His calling. When Jesus visited His hometown of Nazareth, they were offended at Him and said: 'Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?' They were offended at him. Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house' (Mark 6:3).

When you get turned onto God and the little fire within you becomes a flame, the world will quickly turn its back on you. You may find that your enemies are those of your own household (Matthew 10:36). Expect it. This simply means that you are on the right path. The things that you lose for the sake of Christ will be returned with better.

Note that Jesus did not pursue His family or those that disagreed with Him with scripture to try and convince them or win them over. He simply moved on to those that would listen. He gave His disciples the 'Shake it off' rule (Mark 6:11). When they will not receive your message, shake it off, and go to the next town. We would be very wise to follow His example.

Prayer: Heavenly Father please strengthen me and give me a fresh boldness for You. Give me tact and help me recognize the right time to share with others. Put a guard over my mouth and give me the right words to speak. I thank You so much for all that You have done for me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Our weekly RHM Live church service will be happening this morning at 10am EST. Join us for a time of worship, interactive prayer, and fellowship, as well as an encouraging message. To participate in the chatroom you need to have a site account, but if not, you can still watch the video of the study. Service starts at 10am EST, but all are encouraged to show up 15 minutes early for fellowship, and to make sure the stream is working for you before we start. Here is the link to join: RHM Live

Amen! Jesus said there would come a time when they would throw you out of the church. Have you had that happen yet?

This is so true! I use to try to argue my point; but all that happened is I felt drained. This is within my own family( one of my sons). Now I get in what I can, when I can. But I give it to GOD. I know my son, will come around through the Grace of GOD, and his tender Mercy. Hope and faith! I know GOD can do it.

Amen and amen, Pastor Dion! You spoke to me directly today, twice, first of all with your "Live Sermon" and then right here with your timely message titled "Intervention"!!! Yes, there is truly a battle for the mind going on right now especially going after our younger generation and we need to be in constant prayer, praying a hedge of protection round about them!   Also, I had experienced immense rejection especially from some of my closest loved ones, when I was saved, which really hurt! But, I'll not give up and trust the Lord, because HE will make a way, and it is by HIS spirit who draws and moves and convicts!!!   Love you and Sylvia, thank you for feeding me on the word of God and blessings me with your music and everything else!!!  "Numbers 6:24-26"
