For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little. Isaiah 28:10 WEB.We had scattered pieces all over the table while we worked on assembling a jigsaw puzzle. It was a total mess. This one was mysteriously difficult, for someone had mistakenly...

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are ...

Trust or Bust

  • If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established. Isaiah 7:9 WEB

Ephraim and Aram formed an alliance and prepared to invade Judah, which terrified the people living there. When the people of Judah learned of the coming invasion, 'The hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind' (Isaiah 7:2).

The Lord sent the prophet Isaiah and he told them not to worry for it would not happen. 'Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart' (Isaiah 7:4). God then told them to stand firm in their faith, or they would not stand at all.

The words of this verse in the original language are a rhyme and basically mean: 'Trust or Bust.' God said that it is time for all or nothing. You are in, or you are out. So many times God had proven His faithfulness to them, but it was like that He had to start completely over each time that a new problem arose.

It is important to God, and to our success on this earth, that we believe what He tells us. His promises are no good when we refuse to believe Him. He has come through for us so many times before, but each time when we are faced with a new trial, we often fall apart and start over again in unbelief just as they did.

There will be times when we are faced with terrible circumstances that make us want to cower, turn back, or stop what the Lord has called us to do. This is when we should examine ourselves and see whether it is the Lord calling us to a different direction, or is it just our fear holding us back. After all, we always imagine the worst possible thing that could happen.

If God is not giving us a new direction, then we stand on the last word from Him until He gives us a new one. When we have done all that we can, we stand (Ephesians 6:13). We remind ourselves of what God has done for us in the past and build ourselves up like David. He does not need prove His faithfulness again and again and again because we will believe Him. It is time to trust or bust. Today, stand firm in your faith no matter how dark the horizon appears.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I choose to trust You. I know that Your way is best and today I stand on Your word. No weapon formed against me will prosper. I serve Almighty God, what can man do to me? You have brought me this far and are well able to take care of me. May Your will be done in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Trust or Bust.  How do you know you are in Gods will or need to make more changes to move forward?  Isn’t it true that if we are dry and deserted that it could be a sign we are not in His will?  It’s so hard to know sometimes?  I’ve had experiences where I have felt much peace in my life and work and now its more grueling and exhausting.

Hi there, Michelle! That is certainly the case that it could be a time of, say, testing, or a time of change. It can also be difficult to discern, especially when stress is involved. What really helps us is a time of fasting at least a couple of times a year (or if there is a particular thing we are trying to discern), which really helps break through barriers like that. He may show us what our direction is a number of ways during such times, like dreams, sudden changes in circumstances, multiple confirmations, etc. Hope that helps, sister, praying for you <3!
