In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! I AM! Don't be afraid." Peter answered him and said...

Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

Work Gracefully

  • You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith. In the same way, wasn't Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead. James 2:24 WEB

Growing up on a farm with two brothers and ten step-siblings, I got to see first-hand the differences between those who were pleasing to their parents, and those who were not. The parents could ask one child to do something and they would. This pleased the parents and sometimes there would be a reward for the child. The child and the parents were happy.

Other children when simply asked to come home after work, would somehow land in jail instead. This seemed to hurt the parents, the child got no reward and they were all sad. The parents tended to love all of the children whether they obeyed their wishes or not, and they were all a part of the family, but there was joy and a reward for those that were obedient.

God loves each of us and we should respond to that by doing good. When we do, there will be a reward. We gain joy, fulfillment, and self-worth by doing good, as well as the favor of God on our life. If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19). Who will eat the good of the land? The willing and the obedient.

The love of God is free and you cannot earn it, but your life can be pleasing to Him, or not. Abel was pleasing to God, but his brother Cain was not (Genesis 4:4). Ask, Action, Reward: when God asks you to do something, and you take action, there will be a reward. You can't shuffle the order.

We are saved by grace through faith, which is the unmerited favor of God (Ephesians 2:8), but good works should follow us for faith without works is dead (James 2:26). No amount of good works will get you to heaven without faith in Jesus, but He also said: 'Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?' (Luke 6:46). We should believe in Jesus, but we should also do what He tells us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for Your favor on my life. I am willing, give me the grace to be obedient as well. Lead me into all that You have for me on this earth and make what is important to You, important to me. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer" (Romans 12:12). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Years ago  and sometime after I believe that I received an reoccuring message from God to feed His children. I prayed every time I sensed this and asked, "How do You want me to feed your chldren?" "Father do You want me to feed them in the physical sense with food or in the spiritual sense as in your word and the gospel or both?" Also,"Which children are You talking about Father?""Your chidren Israel or the church or my own?" I never got an clear answer from our Father as of yet and feel like I've missed the mark so to speak or His appointed time for me to do so because of a season of rebelousness and disobedientness. Needing prayer and advice about this pastor Dion. I need a word from the Lord and clarity from Him  because I want to obey Him and do His will. Thanks and may Father Yahweh bless y'all.

Amen! I believe that we are saved by unmerited grace, but good works are an outpouring of our Salvation, works an outward sign that hopefully and LORDWILLING will lead others to Christ, under the help, direction and guidance by the Holy Spirit! Thank you JESUS, my Lord and Savior, and thank you Pastor Dion for this message on justification!!!
