He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, 'Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.' Simon answered him, 'Master, we wor...

He told them this parable. 'Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?' Luke 15:3 WEBWhen I first got serious about serving the Lord Jesus, I was a musician and played ...

Yahweh spoke to Manasseh, and to his people; but they didn't listen. Therefore Yahweh brought on them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains, bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. When he was in distress, he begged Yahweh his God, and humbled himse...

The Game Changer

  • But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:4-5 ESV

When I was about twenty years old, I was playing music at a party one night, and suddenly the Holy Spirit came on me with such a loving presence. He instantly changed my life, my desires, and my plans. I did not know who He was, but I wanted to. I placed my guitar in the case, said good-bye to the band, went home and into the bedroom and made things right with God that night. The next morning I got up, went to church, and later got baptized. I started Bible college, got my degree, and here I am. That was certainly not my game plan.

I grew up very legalistic, and viewed God as a mean super-being waiting for me to make a mistake. After a while I learned that I was not very good at keeping rules, and thought that by now He was probably really angry at me, so I avoided Him and the places that I thought He would be. That night the loving kindness of the Lord chased me down and I have never viewed God the same again. No one had to preach to me, He drew me like a magnet. He loves us more than we can even comprehend, even when we ignore Him and go our own way, and He is neither mad nor mean.

Wherever you stand with God today, know that He is pursuing you, wanting a deeper relationship with you, and that He will never give up the pursuit. You can try to avoid Him, but He will come to where you are. He is the game changer.

Martin Snyder
Martin Snyder Thank you for sharing your testimony, Pastor Dion. Thank you for reminding us of who He is. I am thankful for who He is and for His relentless pursuit to draw us to Him. I am thankful and happy to be a part of His posse, deputized, or should I say "magnetized", for His purpose, for His glory.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield I can relate! I swear I actually "died" back in December 2014--the day is forgotten, but I should have remembered it--because that's the day I became a different person! My family is still amazed at the change in me.And I was prompted to finally know Bible truths that had been previously unknown to me.Now, when I pray, I get a peaceful, easy feeling (sorry, I grew up with the Eagles!) that I never found in prayer before! I actually WANT to pray and read the Bible now, because that's what gets me "high"! As crazy as it sounds, it's all true. Blessings to all!

Edwin McGee
Edwin McGee The great reformer, Martin Luther, had the same experience. He became a monk to appease an angry God and found a Loving Father in Scripture. To answer some other questions that were posted- you DON'T find the Holy Spirit; the Spirit finds you. Just listen to His Voice!

Cheryl Hebert
Cheryl Hebert Thank you, Pastor Dion!  I too was taught that rules and rituals would get me to Heaven...until age 50, when my life spiraled out of control, did I totally and most brokenly, surrender my entire life to my Savior...HIS love is unexplainable, but attainable!  Romans 10:13 is my testimony!  God's Word is TRUE!  Never doubt HIM or HIS Word, cause scripture says JESUS IS THE WORD!!!!  Shouting material there, folks!  God bless!

Sylvia Todd Yes, from what we've read, Martin Luther worked as hard at monkery as anyone humanly could, until he found that the way was so much simpler than he imagined.

Tina G
Tina G My experience was a little slower. Well God wasn't, I was! It happened at a Saturday night non-denominational service with praise and worship. The pastor said that God wanted me "right where I was"  (which was a hot mess!) and there was no performance I needed to do to "earn" His love for me. This was the message over a few Saturday nights. Finally I felt the Holy Spirit, love and compassion and just wept uncontrollably. Not sad tears which I'd had plenty of but tears of joy and gratitude that our Savior Jesus Christ convinced me to give up the fight and let Him take it from there. Now I ask Him to take it every day. Sometimes I struggle, sometimes I have to be patient and wait. But at least I know Him and have a relationship with Him. And true gratitude.
