And when David and his men came to the city, they found it burned with fire, and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him raised their voices and wept until they had no more strength to weep. 1 Samuel 30:2 ESVDavid stood amidst the burned ashes of his city with tears running down his face. Though he was anointed as king years ago, he had been running from Saul ever since. Now while the men were away, Amalekites had burned the city and carried off all of their wives and children. His own men were talking of stoning him to death. This was a difficult time for David. One that would break most men, but he strengthened himself in God (1 Sam 30:6).
In seventy-two hours, everything changed (2 Sam 1:2). With God's help, David rescued their families and recovered all (1 Sam 30:18). Saul died during a battle with the Philistines (1 Sam 31:3). They made David king over Judah (2 Sam 2:4). The breakthrough was so close and things that had not changed for years, were now only hours away. David did not know this and if he had given up and fallen on his sword, he would have missed the greatest years of his life.
It is always darkest right before the breakthrough. The battle can become so intense that you want to quit, but hang on. A lot can change in seventy-two hours. You are closer than ever to seeing the promises of God fulfilled in your life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me a heart like David that will trust You even in the face of adversity. Strengthen me Lord and help me to see past the problem, in the name of Jesus I pray.Note: Happy Sunday! All are invited this morning to join us for our weekly RHM Live church service! Our God is A TOTALLY AMAZING GOD!..
He chose in heat of emotion not to fall on the sword. Been there often over years of my life but I managed with God's appearing at a given moment..or the Word popping out like a aWord of Knowledge coming from Heaven. Most recently is Psalm 34:4. I prayed to the Lord and He answered me ..He freed me from all my fears. Once again, this morning, I am feeling powerlessness over a recent happening because another type of layer is added on. King David must have known that he know where to go to....His Father who loves him dearly and as Dad's are ( which I struggle with for the Father I had....) who are functioning and you know you can go freely....will listen to your heart and hold you to reassure you with a hug to get us back on track. A place to go and put it and walk away. Have had an issue with men a l l my life. Lot of work in this area. My Lord is a safe place, a refuge, a wing I can run to and feel the the rock, the refuge whatever it is built of with a beating heart love that never stops, and feathers from His wing that wrap around me tightly.Which help me to soar again! So 72 hours or whatever His timing I need to ask for Him me to hold on. God speaks in Love and this I can receive.
