Flow Through Me from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about something that is at the very core of knowing Jesus: the Holy Spirit. This is fundamental stuff, but sometimes we build our doctrines so high that we can no longer see the foundation, yet it is very important tha...

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; Isaiah 64:6 KJVAs the preacher looked over the congregation, pondering his next victim, I sank lower and lower in my chair. He always chose someone at random from the congregation to pray, so everyone tried to avoid ...

Walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. He said to them, 'Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.' They immediately left their nets and followed him. Matthew 4:18 WEBAs J...

Wasting Away

  • For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah Psa. 32:3-5 ESV

David wrote this psalm after falling for Bathsheba. Not only had he gotten her pregnant, he had her husband Uriah, one of his own mighty men (1 Chr. 11:41) killed. His sin gave him no rest but kept eating away at him day and night. David was restless and wasting away. His peace was gone. The sweet fellowship that he had with the Lord was now broken.

Sin is a slippery slope and will eventually catch up with you. One sin leads to another, and another, like lie upon lie and it gets easier each time. Repentance is the brake pedal that stops it.

If you ever find yourself wasting away, remember this fact: no matter what you have done in this life, in thirty seconds you can be righteous before God, washed as white as snow, and start with a fresh slate. What is lost can be restored. That which is broken can be repaired.

Pray this and mean it: "Lord forgive me for what I have done. Jesus come into my life and be My Lord and Savior from this day on." He will take care of the details. Keep a short list with God, be quick to repent and dont get caught in a loop while just wasting your life away.

Marisa Jackson Amen!!  Our God is such a loving, kind, compassionate and forgiving God, even when we know deep down we do not deserve it!  God is all loving, all compassionate and wants his children to be righteous always!  Thank you God for loving me; and even though I commit acts of sins; you still love me and always put me on the right path and forgive me.  Thank you for your son Jesus who is my savior!  I Love You Always!!  Amen!!

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield I am reading about David's misfortune now, in Faithgateway's Bible in a Year study.2Samuel 7 begins to explain David's downfall, but oddly, that makes me admire David more--he's a HUMAN, after all! Sometimes I chuckle, trying to think of what Jesus might have done as a kid. I bet HE was mischievous! I really wish I could find literature about our Lord when He was a kid--LOL! (Perhaps my family is right--I'm NUTS!)

Sheri Buckner
Sheri Buckner Our pastor is preaching a series on love and forgiveness. He stated just yesterday that many people want forgiveness, but not many want to forgive; and it is only by the strength and grace of Jesus that we're able to do so. Thank goodness the Lord doesn't have the same hesitation to love and forgive like man does.

Twila Stierwalt This is so true,  If you want a relationship with Jesus Christ, He is always there waiting for us to move toward Him. I am so thankful that God loves and forgives us. The relationship is up to us.

Roseanne Braverman
Roseanne Braverman Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my life away from fatigue and the need to sleep.  I know the more you sleep the more you need to sleep, and if you do something else instead of giving in to the fatigue it will pass. And Drs have told me I need to sleep less and try to exercise more.   Since I feel guilty when I give in to sleeping too much, I know it is the Lord  telling me I made the wrong choice.  So I am praying Pastor Dion's prayer and limiting the amount that I sleep.  Thank you.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Jesus is faithful to wash us clean of all sin. Though our sin be as scarlet he will wash us white as snow. He died for forgiveness of all our sins, past, present and future. This is why I ask for forgiveness everyday so I can began anew. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. He knows that we will continue to sin . That is why His crucifixion was necessary to remove the barrier of sin which separated us from our Abba Father. Praise God for His provision! Now  if we stumble we have an advocate. There is no condemnation in Jesus. We are forgiven and nothing can separate us from the love of Christ! Nothing can, not even the lies of the enemy , the one who comes to seek, kill and destroy , to fill us with doubt and shame. God is ours and we are His, nothing will snatch us out of his hand! Thank you Jesus! ! My redeemer lives!

Sylvia Todd I agree with Dion's prayer for the Lord to renew  your energy! That said, you probably should try exercising more because you would likely get a better quality of sleep and not need as many hours.

Melissa-Peter Busse
Melissa-Peter Busse I have gone through seasons of deep depression and all I can do is isolate in my room and sleep. God is faithful to pull you out. Now, when I wake up at night or have difficulty sleeping :), I ask the Lord to give me the strength for what He has placed in front of me for the day. He is faithful, and I do have the energy for His work. Praying for you Rosanne, Jesus I ask that you lift Rosanne up! Give her the strength to do Your will today, in the name of Jesus, Amen

Sylvia Todd We heard the sweetest testimony one time from a pastor who, as part of his prayer time, committed to meeting with the Lord each day, visualizing a couple of chairs by a fireplace where they would meet. As people do, there was a time when he got busy and forgot to do that for quite a while. When he finally started again filled with repentance, the Lord showed him that He had been there the whole time, not with condemnation, but with a big smile, showing the He was glad to start again.

Sylvia Todd Agreed, Kathy, if all of the people in the Bible did everything just right, I don't know how I would ever relate to it. Also, yes, we know the Lord has a great sense of humor, so he was probably a hilarious child ;).

Karen Pasquinelli
Karen Pasquinelli When I slip I find myself saying "Lord please forgive me for my sin, for saying or thinking bad words I shouldn't."  You see I live in Las Vegas and there are times when I am playing a machine and I can't win anything not even play money, I find myself saying or thinking a word I shouldn't.  I am trying to move back to Calif to be near my Children, but the apartment wait list is long, like 5 years.  They just now are working on 2009 people.  It is the only apartment in the town we want to live in that has HUD (low income) for seniors.  It would be nice if everyone on the list found something else that would move us up faster, but it's in God's hands, I pray about it all the time.  Thank you listening and God Bless :)

Nell Neathery
Nell Neathery Praise God!  Sylvia posted this devotional as a link on Facebook, and I saw it in my email box.  Otherwise, it may not have been until later this evening before I saw it.  As Kris Kristofferson's song goes "Lord Help Me Jesus, I've Wasted It So."  I have cried out like that before.  I have learned to kneel and pray.  I received the Holy Spirit in 2012.  So, I could say I wasted most of my life, but it's not worth it to look back at that.  In 30 seconds at First Baptist Church in Henderson in November 2014, I publicly admitted I believed in Jesus and I was washed as white as snow.  I suppose that is why I have been convicted to separate from this present relationship because it is just not right in the eyes of the Lord.  I have been hiding since the end of February in 2 big "prayer closets" in this apartment.  I have been restored and repaired and focus on this every day.  Thank you!  Now, I have fellowship here at Refreshing Hope and at my new church with getting to know new people.
