The Octopus

  • Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down on the earth, and put his face between his knees. He said to his servant, 'Go up now, and look toward the sea.' He went up, and looked, and said, 'There is nothing.' He said, 'Go again' seven times. On the seventh time, he said, 'Behold, a small cloud, like a man's hand, is rising out of the sea.' He said, 'Go up, tell Ahab, 'Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn't stop you.' ' In a little while, the sky grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. 1 Kings 18:42 WEB

It had not rained on the earth in three and a half years when Elijah knelt to pray (James 5:17). Elijah prayed and nothing seemed to happen, so he prayed again, yet nothing seemed to happen. He prayed a third time, but nothing seemed to happen. He kept praying, and he kept checking. Elijah prayed seven times before the rain began to fall.

Jesus prayed for a blind man twice (Mark 8:25). In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus went back and prayed the same words three times (Matthew 26:44). Jesus told a parable to His disciples that they should pray always and not give up (Luke 18:1). It was about an unjust judge whom a widow kept coming to until she wore him out, and he gave her what she asked. Then He said 'Will God not bring justice for His chosen ones that cry out day and night?'

I once read a testimony by Kenneth Hagin who said that he prayed for a blind woman seven times. Each time she would fall to the ground, but when she got up, she was still blind. Finally the eighth time that she came forward for prayer, he prayed for her and moved on to the next person. Soon she started screaming 'I can see!' She was healed, but it took praying for her eight times. The Lord later showed him a vision of an octopus wrapped around her eyes, and each time he prayed, one leg would come off. He had to pray eight times to see the final result.

Pray until it happens. Pray until you see it. Pray until it comes to pass. Pray and don't give up. Just because you don't see it the first time does not mean that nothing happened in the spirit realm. Pray again. Things change when we pray and the fervent prayers of the righteous have great power (James 5:16). The end result of prayer is when we see it manifest in the natural, but it does not start there. Pray through the tentacles.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I pray that You help me understand Your word and teach me by Your Spirit. Let me see the things that others miss. Open my mind to Your Word, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen Heavenly Father help me keep my eyes on you. When ever I pray and when it seems like nothing is happening when I pray because you say in your word what seems impossible with man . That all things are possible with you Lord. Let me not lose hope on what I prayed for and about. Let no weapon that form against me prosper and let no plans of the enemy works in your son Jesus name I pray.

Thats all fine and good what  hapoened to those people in the bible. But  Ive been praying for over 16yrs to be healed of these siezures to no avail. I still lost everything go gave me and im now living a stail life on dissability with no hope of moving forward. Had God answered just this one prayer my life would be TOTALLY different right now and would not have lost ALL He gave me to start with. This has all happened since i was divinely healed of siezures in 1980 so I know it's not from a lack of faith.

Yes, this is difficult to understand yet in the time Jesus walked not all were healed.  Over years wondering of the same I realize in whar we hope for in faith will come to past.  Learning what to do in the time I deal with physical disabilities I have experienced a deeper walk with the Lord and received precious moments with Christ.  Insights also of what to do in different situations to be blessed to help myself and experience His presence.  I think a lot about Joni Earekson Tada who is a huge blessing to many in her wheelchair since she was 17 years old.  Her chronic pain is severe so much to be layed up in bed at long periods of time.  She went through a very hard beginning when her accident happened written in a book she wrote called A Step Further in her faith of why God did not heal her.  I see her as healed in a different way....even though paraylis continued her faith in God grew and ministers to the world of wheelchair others   They in turn become a light to others. Her talents in drawing, painting, speaking writing and radio are so blessed!  Gifted by Christ in the midsr of still being a paraplegic.  God in His goodness is Glorified!!  May He be revealed to you in a new and wonderful way!
