For there is no distinction, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Walking on Water from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the importance of believing the Lord, of shaking off the naysayers and continuing on your own journey. People have a tendency to not want you to go where they have not been. Leaders cannot lead you, where they h...

Out of that terrible travail of soul, he'll see that it's worth it and be glad he did it. Through what he experienced, my righteous one, my servant, will make many 'righteous ones,' as he himself carries the burden of their sins. Therefore I'll reward him extravagantly' the best of everything, the ...

Driftwood

  • Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened, he saw no one. They led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank. Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, 'Ananias!' He said, 'Behold, it's me, Lord.' The Lord said to him, 'Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus. For behold, he is praying, and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in, and laying his hands on him, that he might receive his sight.' Acts 9:8 WEB

I once lived my life like driftwood floating on the sea. Wherever the waves took me, that is where I found myself. I had no purpose, or really any goals. The cold war was going to incinerate us all, but it didn't. Y2K was going to start the apocalypse, but it didn't. Jesus was going to return at least four times during my life, but He hasn't yet. Yes, I do believe that one day He will return, but I have learned to not put a date on it.

Ananias was a follower of Jesus who lived in the city of Damascus. Saul (who was later called by his Roman name Paul) was a Christian hunter carrying orders from the high priest to arrest the Christians there, but he was struck blind on the road. The Lord Jesus then appeared to Ananias in a vision and told him to go pray for Saul. Now this was an exciting time for Ananias. It took real faith for Ananias to walk up to an arresting officer and say 'Jesus sent me.' His life was different than mine.

After I invited Jesus into my life and began praying and fasting, things began to change. Doors started to close and other doors started to open. I saw miracles in my life where strangers would give me things that I secretly needed. I once got up to give my small tithe at church and later found that someone had slipped two-hundred-fifty dollars into my Bible while I was away, which was more than I made at the time.

A gentle prompting would urge me to do something, and when I did, a divine encounter would happen. His plans and purpose began to unfold for my life. Life became more fun and exciting then it had ever been before. By giving up my old life, I found an exciting new one. 'For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for My sake will find it.' (Matthew 16:25). I had found mine and it was no longer like driftwood. My life now had purpose and meaning.

God has a plan for your life as well. You are not meant to be a piece of driftwood floating aimlessly on the waves. If you seek God with all of your heart and pray, He will open doors for you that no man can shut. He will began to put the pieces together and the best years of your life can be ahead of you. Ananias lived an exciting life by having a relationship with Jesus. God is still the same today. You can avoid living a life of driftwood by building a daily relationship with Jesus.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I choose You today. Mold me, guide me, teach me, help me become the person that You want me to be. I want all that You have for me. Lead me into divine encounters and make Your presence real in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Happy Sunday! All are invited this morning to join us for our weekly RHM Live church service! As mentioned earlier, we will not be bringing the Bible Study this week because of power outages here, but there will still be fellowship, worship, and live interactive prayer, via the RHM chatroom. To participate in the chatroom you need to have a site account, but if not, you can still watch the video of the study. Service starts at 10am EST, but all are encouraged to show up 15 minutes early for fellowship, and to make sure the stream is working for you before we start. Here is the link to join: RHM Live

Amen lord,   Thank you pastor for this devotion,   sometimes I feel like I have as much purpose as a wasp.....  which is pretty much nothing other than causing pain... I don't mean hurting people I probably hurt myself more than anyone else it's just my mind is like a battlefield,   but this devotion is so relative to my life right now,   have a blessed Sunday pastor.
